It was October 2017 when Liz heard one of her friends mention Josh being attractive. Thinking she was very content in singleness, but always hoping to be a wing-woman for her gals, she quickly set out to discover the relationship status of this "cool golfer guy". By November, she had planned a Florida trip with friends to see "Disney World." A casual dinner with Josh, who was living near Disney, would be nice if it happened to work. But a boy, they told others, was certainly not the primary reason for the trip. Josh was able to meet up for dinner at Carrabba's in Orlando, Florida. The dinner held an easy conversation, and Josh quickly became a friend. Nothing became of Liz's wing-woman set-up, but Josh and Liz continued a casual friendship. In December 2019, Liz returned to the single-girl arena and made a passing comment to friends about Josh being a suitable catch. After receiving this update on Liz's comment, Josh would say he “closed the search and knew Liz was the one." Not necessarily convinced she was the one for him, but being open to the possibility, they set out for Disney World round #2. Despite Josh's charisma and spoken desire for a relationship, Liz wasn't convinced they would be a good match. This moment in Liz’s independent spirit would launch a 3-year journey of Josh patiently, graciously, tenderly pursuing the girl he believed the Lord had for him. Despite Liz's attempts to consistently remind him that he was only a friend to her, he had settled in his heart that he wouldn't stop until she realized he was the one for her.  In August 2021, Josh’s golfing career had come to an end, and he was looking for his next place to land.  Greenville was his #1 pick, but in order to avoid Liz feeling chased, he assured her of all the many reasons why Greenville was a good place for a young single guy to land. Job opportunities, mountains, nearby family, and a small-town feel were a few of the many reasons he gave for why he believed this would be his next hometown. Liz, reading through the lines, started to panic. With heartfelt intentions, she sent a text that read, “If you’re moving here for me, please don’t...”  In October 2021, Josh moved to Greenville and began finding ways to love Liz as a “friend”. Liz would say the first moment she began to see Josh in a different way came after 10 hours of a long day moving into her newly purchased home. Josh had committed to helping with this process, and after disassembling and reassembling a treadmill that was too large to fit through the door, Liz’s brother, Joseph, looked at Liz and said in a firm tone,  “Sis, you either need to date this guy or pay him.”  December 2021, Josh and Liz begin their dating journey. The passing of Liz’s mom the following year would bring hardship like they had never known. Despite the valleys that seemed to persist for years to follow, Josh continued to love Liz in ways she had identified only with Jesus. Liz would say, “Josh fills in the lines of Jesus that I had been struggling to see in my life.” Through grace, forgiveness, laughter, tears, community, and worship, they have come to better understand the purpose of why they were brought together. Their hope is that, through their marriage, others may know and marvel at the goodness of Christ. They are thrilled to have you on this journey with them!
