HOW WE MET

6/7/22

JENN'S VERSION: We matched on an online dating app, Hinge (shout out to Elise for swiping right on Josh for me). She said his pictures made him seem perfect for me- educated, likes animals, likes to do outdoorsy things. After a couple days of messaging online, we went on our first date! Josh didn’t mess around lol! We went to General Custer’s Golf & Gulp, played putt-putt and ate some yummy ice cream. Josh had a PB sundae and I had a twist in a dish with rainbow sprinkles 😊 Side note: He did NOT let me win golf, BUT he did carry my phone around for me since I had no pockets haha! If you know anything about us, you know mini golf is still our favorite date night idea! It was so easy to talk to each other and I knew from that day, something felt different! Good different. Now here we are a few years later- and I couldn’t ask for a better ice cream eating, putt-putt competitor to do this life with. JOSH'S VERSION: Like every couple, there is always an interesting story to how it all began! So buckle up for the story from my eyes how two people who grow up 158 miles apart and met in a city that is about 315 miles away from both of our hometowns. The time was late May of 2022; I was going through hinge and found Jenn’s profile. I quickly noticed the smiling face and that there was more to her that I wanted to learn. Therefore, I sent a message stating, I feel like I could meet the qualifications you are looking for, you should check out my resume. This caught her attention and we chatted for a few days. She reviewed my resume and stated I passed the phone screen. It was time to pick a location for an in person interview. I decided we should have our first date at General Custer’s mini putt-putt course. The date was at 6:00 and when I first met Jenn in the parking lot, I thought in my head WOW. I hope I get the chance to get to know this girl because she is perfect.

HOW HE PROPOSED

1/27/24

JENN'S VERSION: It was a Saturday and I had made plans to attend a taekwondo tournament that morning (which was really a rouse to get me out of bed early lol). When I woke up, I found Josh laying on the couch after learning he called off work to spend the day with me! He had planned a scavenger hunt to various places that related to our relationship. We started by getting coffee, then to Taste of Belgium for brunch, leading to a bookstore downtown to pick out all the books I wanted! After that, we went to Pins Mechanical to bowl and play games together. I was suspicious but enjoying all the quality time! The last stop was Devou Park (my favorite view of the city) where he got down on one knee and proposed 😊 When I turned around, I was surprised that a lot of our friends and family were there to witness it! The sweetest, most perfect proposal. OH- and not to spoil the ending but I said yes! JOSH'S VERSION: Engagement, what a wild thought! Your whole life people say you will know when you find the one.. You’re just like what in the world does that mean or what does that feel like? How do you know it is the one? Honestly, you can’t put it into words but after spending about a year with Jenn I knew. There was this feeling that Jenn was my other half and I had to devise a gameplan to propose. I started putting together this plan in Oct23. I would ask Jenn little questions to see what would capture her interest for an engagement day. A question here, a question there spaced out over a few weeks to develop the plan. Jenn loves adventures and family so I built out a day full of adventures and surprises. By the end of November, I had the date set. 1/27/2024. Over the month of December and early January I worked to coordinate Jenn’s best friend from Texas coming into town, my family from Pittsburgh, and Jenn’s mom from Conneaut Ohio to be at Devou park by 1:30 PM. The morning of the 27th I took off work without telling Jenn so I got up like I was going to work. I was going to head out and actually leave and come back to surprise Jenn but…. I quickly realized that not many things are open around 5AM on a Saturday so I stayed on the couch until Jenn got up. Once Jenn got up the day was on! We had a series of stops that took us through some of our favorite memories and places together ending us at Devou Park. We began walking to a view of the City, family and friends starting walking behind us and at that time I proposed to Jenn.
