Travel Note
Starting January 8, 2025, U.S. citizens traveling to or through the UK will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). This new requirement applies to all travelers, including those just transiting through the UK. The ETA is a digital stamp of approval that costs £16 and can be applied for online or through an app. This can take up to 3 business days so please plan ahead! App Store: UK ETA

Train
• Edinburgh Waverley → Aberdeen or Stonehaven, Approx. 2.5-3.5 hours • Inverness → Aberdeen or Stonehaven, Approx. 2-3 hours Aberdeen (20 miles) or Stonehaven (30 miles) are the nearest mainline train stations to the castle. Local taxi services are available for transportation between station and castle. There are usually several taxis waiting at the train station when you arrive.
