Our love story began on blackpeoplemeet.com when Josh saw Augusta’s pic and just had to send her a message. Lol, just kidding! Josh loves that joke though. Replace blackpeoplemeet.com with Match.com and you’ve got the truth! Josh’s smooth words roped Augusta right in, and after a series of messages back and forth, we finally decided to meet. We had to reschedule two or three times before finally meeting for an awkward lunch date at Mazatlan’s in Lincoln, where we discovered our mutual love for tacos! Bowling, dinners, dancing, drinks…it was a lengthy courtship! The night before the first Husker game in 2016, Josh asked Augusta if she would be his girlfriend as they sat on the couch in her apartment. Though nervous, Augusta had thoroughly enjoyed their time dating, so she said yes! Coincidentally, Josh met Jade, his future daughter for the first time that night. The next night, after the Husker game, Augusta met most of Josh’s friends for the first time. A couple weeks later, Josh and Travis figured out that the girl Travis had suggested Josh come work out at the Fallbrook YMCA with him to meet nine months earlier, and Augusta, were one in the same. Fast forward to late 2017, and Augusta and Josh have a trip planned to go visit Sierra Leone. Josh thought, what better time to ask Augusta to be his wife than during their time in her homeland. However, the day before they left (which also happened to be Christmas day) Josh had second thoughts about trying to secretly transport the ring all the way to Africa, while also keeping it safe until he could pop the question. So, that afternoon, with the help of Jade, Josh surprised the hell out of Augusta when he dropped to a knee while Jade asked, “Mommy, can you marry Joshy?” just like they had practiced for a whole minute before! The rest, is, as they say, History!
