Joseph was a grad student, and Kimmie was in her second year of undergrad when they met at a Superbowl party with the Navigators at Utah State University. Joseph quickly got involved, experiencing radical community and spiritual growth in Navs after his recent decision to make Jesus the Lord of his life. They became fast friends, and while Kimmie didn't begin to develop feelings until much later, Joseph knew he was in trouble early on. The following summer allowed them to continue to get to know each other in a group setting. Joseph's flirtatious advances were met with a resolved effort on Kimmie's part to completely deny her feelings for him - which culminated in a passionate confession of love when Kimmie realized she couldn't bear to be without him.... just kidding - Joseph just asked Kimmie if they could talk while she was studying abroad in France, which she was of course very excited about because she really did like him back. They wrote each other and had long video calls over the next four months, and Kimmie received the best gift ever in the mail: a whole box full of Chick-Fil-A Sauce™️. They started dating soon after, and climbed the mountains and valleys of life together as they grew in faith and served as Navs student leaders on campus. Some of their greatest adventures include: going through "Avatar: The Last Airbender", climbing mountains, baking up delicious confections, playing (LOTS) of Terraforming Mars, eating Chick-Fil-A, shredding the (snowy) gnar, circling through the prequels ("You were my brother, Anakin! I loved you!"), talking on the phone before bed even if they spent the whole day together, arguing about the ethical dilemma of food waste, talking about God, and last but not least, moving to San Diego to cultivate disciplemakers and lifelong followers of Jesus on the campus at State (Go Aztecs!). They credit their amazing friends and family, and of course their God, for walking alongside them in this adventure. All glory be to Christ!
