Registry
Here is the thing about registries: they are, in some ways, a kind of presumption — a couple sitting down and deciding, with remarkable confidence, that what their marriage needs is a stand mixer in a specific shade of blue. K & I have thought about this, maybe too much, and have arrived somewhere different.
What we actually want (and we recognize how this sounds) is something real. If you are the kind of person who gives a Pendleton blanket to every couple you love, please, give us the Pendleton blanket. That gesture, the one that is yours, the thing you give because it means something to you and therefore will mean something to us, is exactly it.
And if what feels right is a contribution to the life we're building — a cash gift, which is a perfectly lovely and underrated thing to give — we are genuinely, non-performatively grateful for that too.
What we are trying to say is: bring yourself. Bring the gift that feels like you. That is, it turns out, the whole point.
