Fun for kids! You need to pay, but they have an indoor museum and outdoor play area, pus sometimes have live animals, birds, and butterflies you can see. You can also walk around at the Sundial Bridge and in the arboretum.
Lots of hikes and places to go swim in the lake. Need to get a pass at the visitor's center first.
About an hour drive from Palo Cedro. Good for hiking but may still have snow.
About an hour from Redding.
Visit downtown Mt. Shasta for small stores and restaurants and breweries (The Garden Tap at Native Grounds Nursery, Berryvale Grocery) as well as lakes, waterfall hikes, and the mountain to visit nearby.
Also a taphouse in downtown.
Lots of places to park and walk around - by Sundial Bridge, Turtle Bay Arboretum, Caldwell Park, etc.
