FAQs

Question

Why do I need to book travel and accommodations ASAP?

Answer

The villas are secured for 3/7–3/11/2026, but you’ll need to book flights, as well as additional accommodations if planning travel before or after Costa Rica. March is part of Costa Rica’s high season, especially due to spring break and Easter holidays. Flights and hotels can book up quickly, so we strongly recommend securing your travel and accommodations as soon as possible to get the best options and rates.

Question

What is the email from Villa Punto de Vista about?

Answer

You may receive an automated email from Villa Punto de Vista requesting your travel details. This is not spam—the venue requires this information even if you're staying elsewhere. Their concierge can assist with arranging airport transfers. If you're interested, please indicate this when submitting your information.

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes! Please check your passport now to ensure it is valid. Also make sure it does not expire within six months of your trip as you will not be permitted to travel. Passports can take up to 3 months to arrive, so please update or apply. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/have-passport/renew-online.html

Question

Do I need a visa?

Answer

No visa is required for U.S. passport holders—bring your valid passport.

Question

Is Costa Rica safe?

Answer

We’ve traveled throughout Costa Rica and have always felt safe. That said, please take normal international travel precautions—use your hotel safe, keep valuables secure, and avoid walking alone at night.

Question

Can I bring my children on the trip and/or to wedding events?

Answer

While we love your little ones, we’re unable to accommodate children at any of the wedding events. However, Costa Rica is a fantastic place for a family vacation! If you plan to bring your children, let us know—we can help arrange trusted babysitting services at the venue. Please give us a heads-up as early as possible.

Question

Do I need any vaccines?

Answer

For up-to-date travel health recommendations, visit the CDC website: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/costa-rica

Question

What is the currency in Costa Rica?

Answer

The local currency is the Costa Rican colón (CRC). While the exchange rate may vary, a good estimate is USD $1 = ¢505.08 CRC (as of June 2025).

Question

What is the most common method of payment?

Answer

Most places accept major credit cards, especially Visa and MasterCard. American Express is accepted in some spots, but not everywhere. Many shops and restaurants also offer discounts for paying in cash, so it’s smart to carry some colones or U.S. dollars.

Question

Can I drink the water?

Answer

Tap water is generally safe in most parts of Costa Rica, including Manuel Antonio. However, to be extra cautious and avoid any vacation hiccups, we recommend sticking to bottled water whenever possible.

Question

What’s the time difference?

Answer

Costa Rica is on Central Standard Time (CST) year-round and does not observe daylight saving time. From mid-November to mid-March, Costa Rica is 1 hour behind EST in the U.S. From mid-March to early November, Costa Rica is 2 hours behind EST.

Question

Will my cell phone work in Costa Rica?

Answer

Most major U.S. carriers (like AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile) offer international plans that cover Costa Rica. Check with your provider before your trip. Alternatively, you can buy a local SIM card or an international eSIM for data and calls.

Question

Where will the wedding take place?

Answer

The ceremony, reception, and most of the weekend’s events will be held at the stunning Villa Punto de Vista in Manuel Antonio.

Question

How do I get to the wedding?

Answer

If you are staying at Villa Costa Vida, shuttles will pick you up for wedding and return you at the end of the night. Although the villas are a 5-minute walk apart, it can be a treacherous 5 minutes in heels, wedding attire, and heat. Please make sure to include your accommodation info when you RSVP so we can coordinate accordingly.
