It was November 15th, 2014. I had spent the night of my sorority initiation out with my girlfriends to celebrate my 19th birthday. When we were about to go home, I recommended we go into Sigma Nu Fraternity to check it out. While at Sigma Nu, I was hanging out on the deck with my friend and one of Joe's fraternity brothers. I felt like I was third-wheeling the situation so with a little bit of courage I asked the brother, "During sorority recruitment, there was a man out here with his shirt off. Do you know who he is?" The brother responds, "That would be Joe." I then asked where I could find this Joe. With a little bit of fate, Joe happened to have been just a few feet away. I immediately went up to him with no hesitation and struck up one of the fastest conversations known to man. I then proceeded to run away. Later that night, Joe found me again and asked for my number. The rest is history...
It was a normal Saturday night at Sigma Nu. I had just come down from the roof when I overheard “where can I find Joe?” And behold, there stood an attractive young woman whom I've never seen before. I approached her and introduced myself and she said anxiously “I just wanted to let you know, you’re really attractive” and then ran away nervously. I was impressed by her straightforward comment and quickly tracked her back down to talk to her to learn more about her. Before she left the party I asked for her number and a few weeks later I asked her to my formal, where we instantly hit it off and fell for one another.
Joe and Katie were on a seaplane adventure in Juneau, Alaska. They landed on the water at a place called Taku Lodge that is right across from “Hole-In-The-Wall” glacier. There was this bench looking across at the glacier that Katie was looking at. When she turned around, Joe was on one knee and proposed!
