FAQs

Question

Do I need a passport or visa?

Answer

A valid passport is required. Please ensure your passport does not expire within six months of September.

Question

When should guests arrive and depart?

Answer

Suggested arrival: Tuesday, September 22. Suggested departure: Any day after Saturday, September 26.

Question

Are there recommended airlines or routes?

Answer

There are no direct flights from Chicago (ORD) to Veracruz (VER). We recommend booking a connecting flight through Guadalajara (GDL) with a layover of at least 1.5 hours to allow for potential delays. Additional connection options that are also great include Mexico City (MEX) or Houston (IAH).

Question

How do I get from the airport to the resort and back?

Answer

Transportation is on us! We are providing a complimentary shuttle from Veracruz (VER) to the resort and from resort to the airport. However, this is only possible if you send us your flight itinerary. If we don't have your flight info, we can't save you a seat on the shuttle!

Question

How do I handle money/pesos?

Answer

While the resort may take cards, many small shops and restaurants in town are cash only (Pesos). We recommend exchanging some money at your bank before you leave the US or at the airport. Pro-tip: Check the live exchange rates before you travel as they fluctuate! We also recommend to exchange money with your bank at least 3-4 weeks before your trip.

Question

Why can’t I just book on Expedia or the resort’s website?

Answer

Since we have a 100% Private Takeover, the resort has blocked those dates off from the public. By booking through us, you are added to our private guest list and get an exclusive discounted rate.

Question

What is the weather like in September?

Answer

Expect "Tropical Warm." It will be humid and beautiful during the day (perfect for the pool!) and can get a bit breezy at night. Dress for the heat, but maybe bring a layer of two for the evenings.

Question

Is there Air Conditioning in the rooms?

Answer

Yes! All rooms at Campamento Yolotl are equipped with A/C to keep you cool and comfortable during the warm Veracruz nights.

Question

Can I extend my stay?

Answer

Yes, please do! While the main festivities are from Wednesday to Friday, you are more than welcome to stay a few extra days to truly enjoy the resort and the town. Let us know the length of your trip to secure the discounted rate in the rooms for the duration of your stay. Why consider staying longer? In many cases, staying for 5–7 days is actually cheaper than a quick 2–3 day trip. Airlines often charge a premium for "short-stay" weekend flights. By flying mid-week to mid-week, you might save more on your flight than you’ll spend on the extra nights at the resort! If you are looking to explore other cities, let us know so we can send over some recommendations and help answer any questions!

Question

Is it safe to explore the town?

Answer

Absolutely. Jalcomulco is a friendly, vibrant town. We encourage you to explore the local plaza and the bridge during your free time. Just use the same common sense you would in any city (don't wander alone late at night, etc.).

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Outdoor formal. Guests are encouraged to wear elegant, lightweight attire such as floor length dresses, refined midi dresses, linen or lightweight suits, and dress shirts.

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

Yes, children are welcome. If you prefer to enjoy a kid free vacation, we completely understand.

Question

Is there a wedding registry?

Answer

Your presence is our greatest gift. If you wish to contribute, a registry and honeymoon fund will be available, we are truly grateful!
