For those who would like to visit Machu Picchu during their trip, the most common route is by train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo).
Train service is available through PeruRail, with departures from Ollantaytambo.
We highly recommend purchasing train tickets soon, as there are a limited number available each day and they do sell out.
Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes (we recommend a one-night stay), there are two ways to reach Machu Picchu:
Shuttle Bus
Approx. 30 minutes
Tickets are available for purchase 1 month prior
One-way tickets are available
Hiking
Approx. 1 to 1.5 hours uphill
An option if you enjoy adventure and scenic views

Rainbow Mountain
Get Your Guide has many different options for tours to Rainbow Mountain. Rainbow Mountain is high in elevation, higher than Machu Picchu or Cusco! The summit is 17,060 ft. This is not recommended for those who haven't acclimated to Cusco, those with low fitness levels, those with cardiac or respiratory conditions, or anyone looking for a relaxed scenic hike. This hike is physically demanding.
