After flying into Cusco, guests will need ground transportation to Yucay (Urubamba). Since Yucay (Urubamba) is a smaller town in the Sacred Valley (Valle Sagrado), we recommend arranging a private transfer or taxi.
Due to the nature of our wedding plans, we are only able to accommodate those specifically named on the invitation.
Most guests will not need a car. The easiest way to get around is typically taxi.
Cusco is at high elevation, at over 11,150 feet above sea level. Yucay (Urubamba) is at 9,400 feet. Machu Picchu is at 7,972 feet. Travelers may experience altitude sickness, especially after landing in Cusco. A few common tips are to arrive early, rest, stay hydrated, avoid overexerting yourself on your first day, and take it easy while adjusting. Drinking coca tea (mate de coca) is a common, readily available, safe, and legal practice in Cusco to help travelers adjust to the high altitude. To get oxygen in Cusco, ask your hotel front desk for a tank, as most provide them, or buy portable "OxyShot" canisters at local pharmacies.
The temperatures in Valle Sagrado during this season are low 70s during the day, and mid 30s at night. It is recommended to bring a jacket and/or wear layers.
Yucay is the name of a small town within the province of Urubamba. This province is located within the region of the Sacred Valley of the Andes (Valle Sagrado).
