Answer

Yes, the main language in Singapore is English/ 'Singlish' (English with some Singaporean slang). However in certain areas, locals do speak a mix of Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil.

Question

How long should I stay?

Answer

If it's your first time visiting, we recommend staying for 3-4 days to sightsee and enjoy our yummy local cuisine. If you are joining us for the golf tournament on Thursday, June 26, we recommend arriving on the night of Wednesday, June 25, at the latest. If you can, we also highly recommend traveling to other countries in Asia or Australia and New Zealand.

Question

Answer

HOT and HUMID. You can expect temperatures of 30 celsius/ 85 fahrenheit, but the humidity makes everything feel like 35 celsius/ 95 fahrenheit.

Question

Answer

Pack lighter clothing and undergarments, such as shorts and tank tops. Bring clothes that are linen and/or cotton materials. Don't bring anything that has long sleeves or easily shows sweat stains.

Question

How to get around?

Answer

Singapore has one of the best public transportation systems in the world. You can easily travel around the country via public bus or MRT (metro/subway system). You can tap to pay with any debit/credit card; no need to buy a separate ticket or tourist pass. Taxis are abundant, however, we recommend downloading 'Grab', Singapore's equivalent to Uber and Lyft, if you want to travel by car.

Question

Can I rent a car?

Answer

Yes, but you must obtain an international driver's license. Hertz and Expedia offer many car rental options. Do note that people in Singapore drive on the right hand side of the road.

Answer

A little will be helpful - mainly for hawker stalls and street vendors. Most places accept credit cards or mobile payments (Apple Pay, GrabPay/ Pay Wave).

Question

Answer

No. Gratuity/ service charge will normally be added to your bill.

Question

Where can I buy a local SIM card to get data?

Answer

We recommend getting a tourist eSIM from Singtel (Singapore's main telecommunication company): https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/mobile/prepaid-plans/hi-tourist If you want a physical SIM card, you can easily buy it at any 7-Eleven or M1 store. Alternatively, you can go straight to a Singtel or Starhub store to purchase a SIM card.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Due to limited capacity, we are only able to accommodate guests who are formally invited. If you are formally invited, your name is clearly stated on the wedding e-vite.

Question

Are kids welcome to the wedding festivities?

Answer

Kids are more than welcome to join all our wedding festivities! Just be sure to RSVP for them so we can plan accordingly. For the wedding tea ceremony and solemnization, we kindly ask that little ones remain calm during these special moments. If they get a bit restless or noisy, we’d really appreciate it if you could step away with them for a little break. Our team may also gently remind you if needed.

Question

Garden by the Bay is massive, how do I find the exact wedding venues?

Answer

For the Welcome Party @ Hopscotch, all guests should enter Gardens by the Bay via the Bayfront Plaza entrance and follow the signs to the venue. For the Wedding Ceremony @ Silver Leaf and the Waterview Room, all guests should enter Gardens by the Bay via the main Bay South entrance and follow the shaded path and signs to the venues. Alternatively, if you are staying at Marina Bay Sands, you can: 1) take a scenic stroll (under 10 mins) from the Marina Bay Sands Hotel 2) catch a shuttle from the Bayfront MRT station; shuttles are $3 for a roundtrip

Question

Is parking available at the wedding venue?

Answer

Yes, there are large parking lots in Gardens by the Bay and we will have complimentary parking coupons for all guests. However, we recommend taking public transportation or a Grab/taxi to the wedding venue.

Question

What should I wear to the wedding ceremony?

Answer

The dress code is garden formal or formal cultural wear. For ladies, think of bright colored and/or floral dresses with heels. Don't worry you will not be stepping on any grass surfaces! For men, think of linen or 'lighter material' suits with dress shoes. Traditional Asian/Chinese dress is also encouraged! For women, that is a qi pao or cheongsam, or kebaya. For men, it is a tang, changshan, or batik. Ladies, if you do choose to go for tradition dress, please avoid wearing the colors white, black, AND red. While red is an auspicious color in Chinese culture, it is typically reserved for the bride.

Question

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The wedding ceremony and cocktail session will be outdoors in the Silver Leaf Garden. There will be tents for shelter, and fans and umbrellas will be provided to all guests. The tea ceremony and dinner reception will be indoors in the air conditioned Waterview Room, which is in the famous Flower Dome.

A multiple course Chinese menu will be served for dinner. We will have vegetarian, non-shellfish, and gluten- free options. Come hungry!

Question
