Jordan and Maya met in the summer of 2016, while both interning at Intel in Austin - Jordan as a University of Texas student, and Maya as a local high school grad. A friendship quickly formed as we bonded over Dungeons and Dragons, Star Wars, and computer science. Though Maya moved to North Carolina to attend Duke University that fall, we kept in constant contact, and during winter break we both confessed romantic feelings. However, a long distance relationship was prohibitive, and we remained just friends. When Maya returned to Austin and Intel the following summer break, we both still felt a romantic connection and decided to have a "summer fling". The night before Maya traveled back to North Carolina, Jordan suggested that maybe a long distance relationship wouldn't be a terrible thing... For the next two years, we maintained our relationship with constant messaging and frequent visits during the school year, and spent the summers together in Austin. Our highlights of this time period include adopting our goodest boy Dongle, joining a Dungeons and Dragons group, and playing lots of Minecraft and Stardew Valley. Since Maya's post-graduation move back to Austin, we've been inseparable partners and each other's strongest supporters. We adopted Maya's gremlin cat Saxophone, survived a pandemic, have taken incredible trips around the country, moved in together, and bought a house. We're so excited to spend the rest of our lives together, and are appreciative to all of our family and friends attending our ceremony and celebration!
