What to Do in Cape Town

The Wedding Website of Jordan Stone and Danielle Botti
As Jordan says about Cape Town, "if you are bored, you aren't thinking hard enough". From world class museums, wine and beer, beaches, outdoor activities, botanical gardens, restaurants, there is so much to do in Cape Town that you will have a hard time trying to do it all! We picked a few things out here to highlight, but this list will barely scratch the surface. Again, we are also planning to do various activities, like hikes, beach sundowners, garden picnics, wine and beer tours, etc...

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden

Rhodes Drive, Cape Town, WC 7735, South Africa
, 021 799 8783

Normally, we wouldn't say "go to the botanical gardens", but Kirstenbosch is not to miss, honestly probably one of the best gardens in the world!

Lion's Head

Cape Town, WC 8001, South Africa

Lion's Head is my favorite hike in Cape Town, it is steep but pretty short. A Lion's Head sunset/full moon rise is an especially amazing experience.

Table Mountain National Park

5821 Tafelberg Road, Cape Town, WC, South Africa
, 086 132 2223

Table Mountain is what makes Cape Town so special, it has so many great hiking trails of all difficulty, don't limit yourself to Plattenklip Gorge (the main trail on the face)!

Llandudno

Cape Town, WC 7806, South Africa

Llandudno is perhaps Jordan's favorite beach in Cape Town (but there are so many beaches all offering different things), just south of the 12 Apostles it has amazing views, and incredible granite boulders to explore.

Muizenberg Beach

Beach Road, Cape Town, WC 7950, South Africa
, 021 480 7700

Muizenberg is the main surfing beach (and warmer water beach) in Cape Town (well for beginning surfers and longboarding), if you are interested in renting a board and wetsuit write to Ant, ant@theantsnest.com and tell him you are Jordan's friend. He will also be at the wedding!

Cape Point

Cape Town, WC, South Africa

Cape Point is essentially the "Tip of Africa"... but not the most Southern point. It is cool and worth a visit if you have time, but not essential. One thing that is cool is seeing the convergance of the Atlantic and Indian Ocean.

Simon's Town

Cape Town, WC 7975, South Africa

Penguins! Worth a visit, is a tourist trap, but... Penguins!

Constantia

Cape Town, WC, South Africa

For wine tasting nearer to the city than Stellenbosch and the wine region. Is also super bourgie, so there are some tasty restaurants as well.

Kalk Bay

Cape Town, WC 7990, South Africa

Kalk Bay and Fishhoek are worth a visit, just down the road on False Bay from Muizenberg its a nice little fishing town (check out the Octopus's Garden for a funky cafe on the water in an old train). Fishhoek has nice beach on the Indian Ocean side.

District Six Museum

25A Albertus Street, Cape Town, WC 8000, South Africa
, 021 466 7200

If you want to check out one museum in Cape Town, I would recommend District Six, which tells the story of what happened to one of the only mixed districts of the city under Apartheid.

Mzoli's Place

Ny 115, Cape Town, WC 7751, South Africa
, 021 638 1355

If you want to get your braai (South African BBQ) on township style, head to Gugulethu for Mzoli's. However, take a guide or go with a local, as it is in the township.

Devils Peak Salt River Taproom

150 Cecil Road, Cape Town, WC 7925, South Africa
, 021 201 1401

Personally, I think that Devils Peak has the best beer in Cape Town, their taproom in Woodstock/Salt River also has some tasty bites.

The Company's Garden

19 Queen Victoria Street, Cape Town, WC 8000, South Africa
, 021 426 1357

Basically Cape Town's central park, filled with gardens, museums... homeless people (or burgies as they are called in Cape Town), exactly like Central Park.

V&A Waterfront

Cape Town, WC 8001, South Africa
, 021 408 7600

Big mall by the harbour, its got an aquarium as well!
