It all started with a pre-orientation trip in the Adirondacks. Jordan chose “Camp Gorham” as her trip because it included horseback riding. Xavier happened to choose the same one, but because it was the sole remaining trip. Jordan was particularly interested in Xavier’s French Harry Potter book (Coupe de Feu - aka Goblet of Fire). Xavier’s excuse to talk to Jordan was to learn more about Philly. Although the camping trip left them unshowered, they continued talking to each other after. At Rensselaer, Xavier and Jordan took a few classes together, including Economics. Xavier generously shared a “free downloaded version” of the Econ textbook with Jordan and got her number in return. From then on, they helped each other with homework and studied while exploring Troy’s finest coffee shops. Through their 4 years, they became closer, even enduring long-distance as Jordan went on co-op. When 2020 hit, Jordan and her family saved Xavier from Troy and he quarantined at the Almonte household. There he became close with Jordan’s siblings and parents as the two celebrated their graduation virtually. That same year, they were both luckily able to attend Xavier’s sister’s COVID-wedding and celebrated with the Boudreau family! Post-college during the pandemic, Xavier was working virtually from North Carolina, while Jordan moved to Seattle for work. Xavier would make frequent visits until he eventually moved there! Months later, Jordan moved again for work, but to California. In turn, Jordan would visit Xavier in Seattle until he was able to move to California. Together they made the PCH road trip from Seattle to the Bay Area, California, where 2 years later he would propose!
In mid-March 2024, Jordan’s close friends Nicole, Dan, and Aneesh were visiting her from the East Coast for what she thought would be a fun weekend in California consisting of wine tasting, a comedy show, and a beach trip. Little did she know that many of Jordan & Xavier’s friends and family were also flying into town to celebrate their proposal. On the morning of the proposal, everyone made sure to pack their swimsuits and towels so Jordan would believe they were going paddle-boarding. At Francis Beach, they set up for a picnic and Aneesh gave Xavier the code-phrase that their friends and family were in position by an overlooking cliff, and Jordan’s sister, Alex, was on the beach incognito, ready to film. Xavier then asked Jordan to go on a walk- but Jordan initially didn’t want to walk which put the plan in jeopardy! After Nicole and Dan “went to the bathroom” and Aneesh faked an emergency phone call, Jordan walked with Xavier out to the ocean. Xavier set the scene with the most heartfelt speech and then kneeled to propose. Jordan gave a resounding yes. After many happy tears, she saw her parents, sister, and friends cheering from the cliff, making it the best day ever.
