"When winter passed, she came again, And her song released the sudden spring, Like rising lark, and falling rain, And melting water bubbling. He saw the elven-flowers spring About her feet, and healed again He longed by her to dance and sing Upon the grass untroubling." -J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Lay of Leithian" Seemingly by chance, Jordan & Whitney met in Phoenix during the summer of 2017. The two had just set off for their second summer participating in GenSend through the North American Mission Board. After they met, the two were intrigued to learn that they alone from the Tri-Cities had done GenSend for those two consecutive summers. Even more beyond belief, Jordan learned that Whitney was friends with his best friend & roommate, Adam Flora. The two quickly bonded in friendship, but shortly after set off for their own GenSend cities - Whitney to Denver & Jordan to Portland. After arriving back home in late July, the two grew inseparable & shared many adventures & stories. As is wont to happen in such situations, the friendship grew deep & was soon kindled to a deep love. Through the encouragement & nudging of several dear friends, Jordan finally made plain his heart to Whitney. Over the course of the next year, the two shared many joys & adventures & endured many sorrows & uncertainties together. They laughed often, loved much, & journey to the mountains, forests, & streams of Appalachia as often as possible. The two felt the hand of the Father giving them yet another nudge out the door, & so they concluded that it was time to move towards marriage. It seemed a chance meeting far back on that day in June in the Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, but the two were aware that there was something more. The Lord has shown his faithful providence from the moment Jordan & Whitney met, & they are sure that He will ever hold them fast to Himself & together. The two have seen much together, & they look eagerly forward to all that is to come on their path together.
