Our Proposal

Yellowstone, 9/4/21

One day in April, we decided to book a trip to Yellowstone. Planning for it was part of the fun - buying new puffy coats to keep us warm; picking up the essentials we’d need for the night we’d camp in the park; practicing our bear safety tactics in our condo…we even came up with our own Yellowstone jingle that we’d sing in excitement. Little did I know, Jordan was also planning the proposal. He went ring shopping when I thought he was at the gym. He took my dad and mom out to ask for my hand when I though he was with friends. He even showed Jaxy (our cat) the ring when I wasn’t looking. Fast forward and we are having the time of our lives in Yellowstone. We were in awe of all the wildlife: grizzly bears, elk, and herds of bison. We soaked in the beauty of the mountains, waterfalls, and forrests. We were amazed by the geothermal features, exploading geysers, and meandering rivers. By day 4, we planned a big hike at the “Grand Canyon” of Yellowstone, which was incredible. We were completely alone out there, trekking through forrests and hiking past mud pots, hot springs, and crystal clear lakes. We saw stunning views of the canyon and waterfalls. After our hike, we went to various overlooks. When we were hiking back up from one of the overlooks, I remember wondering why he had his hands casually in his pockets on such a tough hike (he was trying to hide the ring). We finally got to the “Grand View” overlook with almost no crowds. Jordan held me while we took in the view. Eventually, he says he wants someone to take a picture of us looking out into the canyon and asks a woman to “take our picture.” So, there we are, staring out into the canyon while Jordan wraps his arms around me. He tells me how much he loves me, and I kiss him on the cheek (wondering if the lady taking our pic is annoyed we are taking so long). Then Jordan kisses my cheek too, and the next thing I know, he’s on one knee, asking me to marry him. I was saying yes before he could even finish.

For all the days along the way
