How we met

10.21.2016

Elina and Jordan, who were both working at the same company in Downtown Cleveland, had not crossed paths until October 2016. At this time, Elina was planning a going away happy hour for their mutual colleague, who was moving back home. Jordan was on the guest list, and although he initially had reservations about attending, he had arrived just in the nick of time. Elina was mixing and mingling and Jordan struck up some friendly conversation. They hit it off right away that evening at Punchbowl Social in the East Bank Flats and exchanged phone numbers. This fateful encounter took place when the Cleveland Indians were in the World Series, so they got to know each other over several World Series games, until Jordan got the courage to ask Elina out on a formal first date. Dinner was at Hodges, followed by a comedy show at Hilarities and drinks on East 4th Street. They had the best of times and the rest is history!

The proposal

11.16.2019

Jordan knew for quite some time that he wanted to spend forever with Elina (the feeling was mutual). He is not a planner by nature, but he knew that he wanted to make this moment special. He waited until Elina was out of town for work, and drove over to the Gidalevich's to ask their permission to marry her. After receiving their blessing, Jordan spent quite a few days pretending he was still at work but was secretly shopping for rings. Finally, when the perfect ring was found, he called Elina's sister, Marina, and they started scheming. Marina planned to be in town the week of the proposal, and then pretended she left to go back to Chicago. However, she secretly stayed in Cleveland and picked up all the decorations, treats, and bubbly for the after-proposal celebration. Jordan also enlisted the help of their friends, Vinny and Veronica, to coordinate getting Elina to where she needed to be without causing suspicion. They helped plan a Saturday adventure in Cleveland, that included brunch and pictures around the city. Veronica was the perfect person to convince Elina that everyone needed to get dressed up for the activities! They went to lunch at one of Elina's favorite spots downtown, and made their way over to The Arcade, which is a beautiful, historic place for pictures. Vinny and Veronica posed for a couple pictures first, and then offered to take some of Jordan and Elina. Elina looked down for a moment to adjust her outfit for the picture, and turned back to find Jordan on one knee. She had no idea the proposal was coming, or that Jordan had arranged for a photographer to capture the big moment! Jordan spent a few moments on his knee telling Elina how much he loved her, and asked her to marry him. After fits of laughter and tears of happiness, she quickly said, YES!! They went back to Jordan's apartment to "grab the keys and drive to Elina's parents", but both of their families were already there, ready and waiting for them to celebrate!!
