We are so glad you asked! Bear Lake Reserve is located in the western mountains of North Carolina, one of our favorite places. While it is remote, we are hoping you can enjoy some needed time off from "real life" and unplug while celebrating with us.
No, we love your kids, we really do....but due to capacity limitations, the ceremony and reception will be adults only.
There are limited dining options on the property. The Lake Club at Bear Lake Reserve offers one main restaurant and taproom/bar; however, dining options are limited during the week of your stay, and reservations are required. It is important to remember to to stop and grab alcohol, snacks/food and breakfast items on your way to Bear Lake Reserve. Once you get on the property, you will not want to leave! The closest major grocery and liquor stores will be in Sylva, North Carolina.
The welcome event will be dressy casual (think nice jeans, a sundress or a sport coat) while the ceremony and reception will be cocktail attire. If you plan on doing any activities that Bear Lake offers (ex: hiking or kayaking) you will want to bring appropriate clothing and footwear! Other than that, you are on vacation! There is no dress code for the property when you are exploring or relaxing by the pool.
We have arranged transportation pre/post wedding as well as for the welcome party. Pick-up & Drop-Off location for both events will be at 100 Saddle Notch Lane. Pick-up times are as follows: - 4:00 pm - Welcome Event on 4/27 - 2:45 pm - Wedding Ceremony & Reception
While Bear Lake Reserve does not require proof of vaccination, we are strongly recommending all guests be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 that plan to attend the events for the week (welcome event, ceremony and reception). It is extremely important to us that everyone in attendance feels safe and remains healthy.
Weather Permitting, the ceremony & reception will be mainly be outdoors.
The average temperature in late April in Western North Carolina usually ranges from 65-75 degrees, with cooler evenings and warmer afternoons. We would suggest being prepared with a light jacket for the evening.
We highly recommend taking advantage of being close to Asheville, NC and spending the weekend post wedding exploring the city. Asheville offers close proximity to beautiful hiking, great restaurants and a variety of must try breweries.
While we recommend staying on the property if you are able, there are several Airbnbs/VRBO within 15-30 minutes of the gates. There are also several major chain hotels in Sylva, North Carolina (roughly 30 minutes from the property).
