FAQs

Question

1. What’s the dress code?

Answer

We’d love if you came in dressy casual/cocktail attire. But the most important thing is that you’re comfortable and have fun, so please wear whatever makes you feel confident and happy. Just maybe avoid wearing a white dress.

Question

2. What’s the weather in Amsterdam in July?

Answer

Amsterdam weather can be unpredictable. The venue has indoor and outdoor space so we’re prepared for anything from rainstorms to sunshine.

Question

3. Is there a gift registry?

Answer

Please, no gifts! We know that many of you are travelling, and we’re just grateful to have you celebrate with us. If you want to make a small contribution to the honeymoon fund, we won't say no, but it's (really! truly!) not necessary.

Question

4. Are you changing your names?

Answer

Nope. We’ll remain Jonathan Smith and Kirsty Chan for the foreseeable future.

Question

5. Why Chateau Amsterdam?

Answer

First things first: It’s not a Chateau! But it is an urban winery in Amsterdam Noord, one of our favourite areas in the city. While the neighbourhood is industrial, it’s also full of exciting restaurants and cool bars tucked away from the tourist crush. It’s our go-to area for a night out with friends or a lazy weekend lunch, and we’re excited to share it with the people we love most. As a venue, Chateau Amsterdam is big, industrial, filled with wine, and has no residential neighbours so we can celebrate as loudly as we like.

Question

6. How do I get to the venue?

Answer

From Centraal Station ⛴️ Take the ferry from Centraal Station to IJPlein or Buiksloterweg; from here it's just under 10 minutes by bike. If the sun is shining and you enjoy a walk, this is also an excellent option. You can also take metro 52 (Noord-Zuid line) and get off at Noorderpark; from this metro station it's only a 10-minute walk. By bicycle 🚲 If you're biking past Centraal Station, check the instructions above. If coming from Amsterdam Oost, you can take the ferry from Azartplein to Zamenhofstraat (only 300 meters from the venue). From the highway🚗 The venue is also easily accessible by car, via the IJ tunnel from the city centre or via the S116 from the A10. Take the exit to S118, turn left towards Johan van Hasseltweg, cross the traffic circle and you're there!

Question

7. Are plus-ones and children allowed?

Answer

Plus-ones and children are indeed allowed! When you RSVP, the name of your guest (or "Guest Name Unknown") should pop up. Contact Jon or Kirsty if you have any questions.
