Travel Note
Ios is accessible by ferry only, so you will need to fly into one of the nearby airports. Santorini is the closest option, with the shortest ferry transfer, though direct ferries are also available from Mykonos and Athens. We recommend getting an early morning flight to allow plenty of time to reach the port. If your schedule allows, consider spending a night or two on the island you fly into – it’s a great way to break up the journey and enjoy another beautiful Greek island along the way.

Before booking, check that ferry times align with your flights and arrange transfers to and from the port — your hotel can usually assist with this. If you’re prone to seasickness, we recommend choosing conventional ferries rather than high-speed ones, as they’re slower and typically provide a smoother ride. August is peak season, so ferries should be booked 2–3 months in advance, once their schedules have been finalised. Ios has great ferry links to many other Greek islands, so if you can, we’d highly recommend continuing your travels after the wedding to explore more of Greece.

For more choices, check out Airbnb and Booking.com — and if you’d like any advice, just ask Madi or Max. Below are the areas we recommend staying in. Chora (Ios Town) - the main village and heart of the island. Perfect if you want easy access to restaurants and bars, and don’t mind lots of steps and evening energy. This is a great central base for bus links to beaches. Mylopotas Beach - the most popular beach area, known for its long sandy bay, beach bars, water sports and lively atmosphere. A little quieter than Chora at night but perfect if you are focused on sunbathing and seaside dining. The wedding venue is a short drive from both these areas however the island is small so nothing is too far.
