Our Story
On June 2, 2024, in the culmination of one of the greatest 21st century whirlwind romances, Jonathan "surprised" Veronica by proposing at Cypress Gardens in South Carolina during one of his trips to visit her in Charleston. Their love story started in November of 2022, thanks to a combination of baldness, a nosy Frenchman, and a diocesan dinner. The evidence for the Lord's blessing of this union can be found in its beginnings. The Lord provided one SEEK conference, several months of night prayer and rosaries, and a night of swing dancing, before Jonathan finally worked up the courage to ask Veronica on a real date, officially starting their relationship in late January, 2023.
Jonathan showed incredible dedication from early on by joining the crew of the Spring Musical just to spend time with Veronica backstage.
Veronica quickly introduced Jonathan to her love of theater by bringing him to NYC to see Hadestown. He showed his gratitude by getting into a minor car crash on the way back to Annapolis.
Veronica always loved a man in uniform, even if it is a Navy one. She enjoyed the chance to pretend to be a civilian girlfriend at Jonathan's dining out.
On May 26, 2023, Jonathan and Veronica commissioned into their respective services wherein Jonathan pledged to defend against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and Veronica pledged to be underwater.
Powered by port wine, espresso shots, and Thai fisherman pants, Ron and Jon walked from Porto, Portugal to Santiago, Spain, growing in their love of each other and the Lord through every step.
After the summer, Jonathan and Veronica's relationship began to center around the "City of Love," Charleston, SC, which is why they're getting married in San Juan Capistrano, CA.
Because long-distance dating isn't hard enough, Ron and Jon decided to try long-distance running! The Marine Corps Marathon was an emotional experience for Jonathan. Veronica did fine.
At the TBS Marine Corps Ball, Veronica quickly realized she had snagged the cutest Marine.
Jonathan introduced Veronica to the beauties of Atchison, Kansas over Christmas break. Adam and Evan showed up to prove that the Camino never stops.
One of the benefits of long-distance is meeting in the middle. Jonathan and Veronica celebrated their one-year anniversary hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, NC.
Veronica was suspicious several months in advance of the proposal, just so she could say she saw it coming. After all of the anticipation, she still forgot to say "yes."
