Like most modern romances, ours started on Tinder. Neither of us had dated in a while, but we decided to give online dating a try- expecting absolutely nothing. Our first date got off to a rocky start when Val showed up fifteen minutes late, and Jonny was convinced he’d been catfished. When she finally arrived, he was so nervous and quiet that she thought he wasn’t interested. Luckily, that didn’t last long. The conversation took off, and even the bartender and servers started commenting on our chemistry. We were so caught up talking that we didn’t notice the thunderstorm outside had knocked the power out until the staff told us the kitchen was closed and we had to go. We looked up and realized all the lights were off, and we were the only two people left in the restaurant. We’d been so wrapped up in our conversation that we were completely oblivious to what was going on around us. Not wanting to end the night, we headed down the street to a dog-park bar (Bark Social) to keep the conversation going, and to dog-watch without our dogs. What started as a low-commitment date turned into a six-hour night. As soon as it ended, we both called our families to say we’d met someone special. From that point on, we were basically inseparable. Ever since, every big moment together has come with a storm- our first date, our engagement, even our engagement party. So it only feels right to say: we bring the thunder.
