How We Met

April 19, 2014 in Nashville, Tennessee

Sheridan's Version: Our story began at one of the most nerd-filled events one could imagine: the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention. When Jon and I first met, I knew he was the one, even though I was seeing someone else at the time. I was standing outside the hotel where the convention was being held, underneath the carport, when I saw a man walking towards me with the most beautiful hair. Time slowed, he smiled, reached out his hand, and I knew that this was the person I was supposed to be with. It would be over a year before Jon and I would actually go on a date, I blame him because I was dropping every hint in the book. Our first date was a quiet movie night at his apartment with some homemade chicken sandwiches and boxed wine. He offered to play me a song on his piano after dinner. We sat on the piano bench together and as he started playing the power went out. There were just a few moments of darkness and silence before we both leaned in for a kiss. We have been inseparable since then. Jonathan's Version: Sheridan and I first met at MTAC (Middle Tennessee Anime Convention) in 2014. I immediately was struck by her beauty and her kindness. The only problem: she was introduced to me as someone else's girlfriend. I did my best to respect the relationship and put it out of mind. I don’t remember much from the rest of the night, but the impression Sheridan made was hard to forget. It was a year later that we finally met up again, when we were both single. What a magical night it was. Halloween week (not quite Halloween yet), and we were hanging out at my apartment with some other friends, having a good time. At some point in the evening the power went out and we just rolled with it. Started playing the piano in the dark, talking and learning about each other, eventually sharing our first kiss. I will never forget that moment, the moment I knew we would be together forever.

The Proposal

March 1, 2019 in Washington Square Park

Jonathan proposed to Sheridan in the afternoon of March 1, 2019 in Washington Square Park in Mobile, AL. They were in Mobile to celebrate Mardi Gras and Sheridan's birthday. Jonathan took Sheridan to the park because it was a place that she had fond memories of from her childhood. They walked around the park fountain, all while Jonathan told Sheridan how much he loved her. When he dropped to one knee, Sheridan started crying. He pulled out a blue box from the Diamond Cellar and Sheridan's heart sank because she was afraid he had gone out and bought an expensive diamond ring. When he opened the box, there was the ring passed down from Sheridan's Grand Mary to her mother. It was perfect. "Anna Sheridan Farnell, I love you so much, will you marry me?" Sheridan didn't even say "YES!", she instead grabbed the ring out of the box and put it directly on her finger.
