Things To Do

We couldn't imagine getting married anywhere other than DC, and we hope you love our city just as much as we do! If you have the time while you're in town, be sure to check out some of our favorite places.

Top of the Gate

2650 Virginia Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20037

We had our first date here, so it holds a special place in our hearts. The roof top is an incredible spot to watch the sunset over DC!

Bagels Etc.

2122 P Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20037
, 202-466-7171

A true hidden gem of DC (and those who live here want to keep it that way), and by far the best bagels in the city. Come here to curb your carb cravings or cure a hangover! It's cash-only, but they have an ATM at the front of the store. If the line is long, wait it out - they move quickly! This is more of a grab-and-go spot, but we LOVE it.

Al Tiramisu

2014 P Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20036
, 202-467-4466

Al Tiramisu is one of our favorite Italian restaurants in DC! We have had our fair share of date nights here and never leave disappointed (or hungry!). We recommend securing a reservation via Open Table or by phone.

Sakana Japanese Restaurant

2026 P Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20036

This is our favorite sushi restaurant. Seating is fairly limited at the restaurant, but has a quaint, authentic vibe. We highly recommend the salmon nigiri and would pay quite a bit to get their house salad ginger dressing recipe.

Mercy Me

1143 New Hampshire Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20037
, 202-828-7762

A great spot we love to go to for drinks - Mercy Me is the hotel restaurant and bar at Yours Truly. We come for the atmosphere and stay for the dirty martinis and gimlets!

Le Diplomate

1601 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, 202-332-3333

Le Diplomat (or Le Dip, as us locals call it) is a staple French restaurant in DC. It is a bit pricey, but still a great spot for both brunch and dinner, and we love their cocktails!

Martin's Tavern

1264 Wisconsin Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20007
, 202-333-7370

Martin's Tavern is an American Cuisine restaurant rich with history. Located in Georgetown, it has been open for over nine decades. Stop by for brunch, lunch or dinner, and see the famous booth where JFK proposed to Jackie!

All Day by Kramers

1517 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20036
, 202-387-3825

Kramer's is a combo bookstore and restaurant, serving modern American cuisine. They serve breakfast all day, and host events like Trivia Night, poetry readings and book discussions. Come by to grab a book and a bite!

Smithsonian National Zoological Park

3001 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20008
, 202-633-2614

The National Zoo is a great spot to explore for a bit of wildlife in the city! Entry passes are free for all guests and can be secured through the website. There is also parking available at a cost of $30, and parking passes can be purchased through the website. The Zoo is open every day from 8:00am - 4:00pm.

National Gallery of Art

6th St and Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20565
, 202-737-4215

Open daily from 10:00am - 5:00pm with free admission. There are several wings with different art to see. The West building holds European and American neoclassical pieces. The East building displays more modern and contemporary works. The Sculpture Garden is outdoors and spans over 6 acres. Check out the National Gallery of Art website for a schedule of free guided tours of the museum.

Folger Shakespeare Library

201 East Capitol Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003
, 202-544-4600

The Folger Shakespeare Library hosts the largest collection of Shakespeare's work!

The Phillips Collection

1600 21st Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, 202-387-2151

Go visit America's First Museum of Modern Art in Dupont Circle!

United States National Arboretum

3501 New York Avenue Northeast, Washington, DC 20002
, 202-245-4523

The U.S. National Arboretum is a botanical garden located on the northeast side of the city that spans over 9 acres. The grounds are open every day from 8:00am - 5:00pm and admission is free. There is an exhibit within the Arboretum called the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum, which is open daily from 10:00am - 4:00pm.
