Things To Do

We are so looking forward to seeing you all in Grand Rapids! As many of you know, Lucy spent a year living in Grand Rapids and John visited her many times! Here are a few of our favorite spots we recommend checking out :)

Grand Rapids Downtown Market

435 Ionia Avenue Southwest, Grand Rapids, MI 49503

The Downtown Market is a fun and vibrant place to explore for lunch or a snack. With so many amazing vendors and two full service restaurants, it's a foodie's paradise!

Fulton Street Market

1145 Fulton Street East, Grand Rapids, MI 49503

The Fulton Street Farmers Market is a summer favorite! Their hours are Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 8am -2pm.

Brewery Hopping

Grand Rapids, MI 49503

Grand Rapids known as “Beer City, USA” and was recognized by USA Today as the best beer city in the US for three years in a row! Exploring the local breweries is a great way to spend an afternoon, our favorites being New Holland Brewing, Founders and Brewery Vivant.

Blue Bridge and river walk

Blue Footbridge, Grand Rapids, MI

Downtown GR is very walkable, the River walk and blue bridge are classic Grand Rapids and a unique vantage point of the city.

John Ball Zoo

1300 Fulton Street West, Grand Rapids, MI 49504

For those traveling with kids, the John Ball Zoo and Grand Rapids Children’s Museum are great family outings.

Boutiques and shopping

Grand Rapids, MI 49503

There is plenty of shopping. The area around on Wealthy Street is known for unique boutiques and coffee shops, and one of Lucy’s favorite spots. Wealthy Street's boutiques can be found from the intersection at Union Ave SE, to Eastern Ave SE.

Lake Michigan

One of our favorite parts of Southwest Michigan are the lakeside towns on Lake Michigan. If you have never seen the Lake Michigan beaches, they are worth a drive. A few of our favorites are Saugatuck, Holland and Grand Haven. Saugatuck Dunes State Park is my favorite if you're looking for a short hike and a quiet and tranquil beach experience. These towns are about an hour to 1.5 hours drive from GR.
