Lizbeth and Jon met in San Diego when life was already pulling them in different directions. What started as simple conversation quickly turned into something neither of them saw coming. Their first date felt effortless from the start. At the end of the night, Jon handed Lizbeth a lime with the words, “Run away with me tomorrow?” written on it. A pick up lime. Confused but amused, Lizbeth kept that lime far longer than anyone probably should have. Not long after, Lizbeth moved to Seattle to begin graduate school, and life took them in separate directions. Even so, those few months together never really left either of them. Ten months later, Lizbeth received a midnight text from Jon. He was deployed overseas and had completely miscalculated the time difference. Those text turned into e-mails (yes, actual e-mails). It didn’t take long for both of them to realize the connection was still there. Jon promised he would visit as soon as he returned home, and true to his word, his first stop back was Seattle. From the moment Lizbeth picked him up at the airport, they knew they didn’t want to lose each other again. A year of long distance followed, filled with flights, countdowns, and choosing each other again and again. After Lizbeth’s graduation, they finally made their way back to San Diego together. Turning the drive into a road trip with one special stop in San Francisco. Early in their relationship, Lizbeth had mentioned a dream of flying a kite near the Golden Gate Bridge, inspired by one of her favorite books. She never imagined Jon had remembered. After dinner , Jon suggested a sunset walk along the beach. When they reached the sand, he slipped off Lizbeth’s heels and led her toward the bridge before surprising her with a kite. As she excitedly tried to open it, already emotional that he had made her small dream come true, Jon suddenly tossed it aside. Confused, Lizbeth turned back to find him down on one knee. And just like that, their forever began. Now, they’re so excited to celebrate this next chapter surrounded by the people they love most.
