The best place to rent tubes, life jackets, pumps, and paddleboards. Bozeman has several nearby options to get out on the water! If you'd like to float the Madison River and shuttle yourself, this is the place you're looking for! Pick up your tubes here and continue on Norris Road towards the Madison River. During this time of the year, this stretch of the Madison River is slow and shallow. Drop off a vehicle for the end of your float at the Black's Ford Fishing Access site. For the full float, start at the BLM Warm Springs Boat Launch and for a "half float" begin at the bridge by Cold Springs Road. You will find parking lots and a toilet at each of these access points. Don't forget sunscreen, water and a designated driver if you plan on bringing an adult friendly cooler! This area is highly patrolled for safety.
Bozeman sits right between two entrances into Yellowstone National Park. To enter the park through West Yellowstone (West Entrance), travel on US 191 S until you reach the town of West Yellowstone. This entrance is closest to Old Faithful and Yellowstone Lake. To enter through the North Entrance, near Gardiner, MT, take I-90 E to Livingston then US-89 to Gardiner. You'll pass through Roosevelt Arch into the park and find Mammoth Hot Springs and the Boiling River. Both entrances will provide breathtaking views, accessible walking trails, and an ice cream shop!
Rent paddleboards from Big Boys Toys, pack a picnic, or take an easy hike in Hyalite Recreation Area. Located very close to town and a great place for a half-day adventure!
