A trip to Rottnest Island is a MUST for any Perth visit. Take either Rottnest Express or Sea Link across from either the Perth CBD or Fremantle, to Rottnest Island. If you'd like to go exploring, hire a bike to get around the island or you can walk to the many bays and enjoy the beaches close to the village. Don't forget your selfie with a quokka!
We love Fremantle. It is a great vibe. Make sure to book a tour at the Fremantle Prison and visit the Fremantle Market nearby. There are a great number of cafes, restaurants and bars (and souvenir shops!) in this area. If you want any suggestions, let us know! P.S. for a wine bar style place we love Percy Flints, and for classic burgers and wings, check out Varsity!
A day trip to Mandurah is always lovely. We suggest you go via car (about 1 hours drive) rather than taking the train, as the train stop is a little far from the city and it's easier to get around via car. A beautiful coastal town, with boutique shops and lovely restaurants.
Kings Park is a beautiful botanical garden that is in Nedlands and overlooks the city and the Swan River. Amazing views and some great natural walks through native flora. There is a cafe in the park otherwise you will be a stones through away from Subiaco, which has a long strip filled with cafes, bars and restaurants. We suggest Lums Wine Bar for a nice cold one, and Shui for some asian fusion dinner.
We love to go out for a few hours to the Perth Hills. We recommend going to Kalamunda where there are some boutique shops and some lovely cafes. There are some lovely scenic drives around this area too, so pop on a playlist and have a drive around.
Ever wanted to swim in a waterfall? Well now you can. Serpentine is around an hours drive with a variety of swimming holes and waterfalls, as well as natural trails to walk - which may be the go to thing if we haven't had much rain yet. Amenities wise, there are picnic tables, shaded areas, toilets and barbecues, with a food truck usually lurking on the weekends if you forget to pack your lunch!
For something a little longer, nothing beats a few days in the South West. It's a few hours to Bunbury, Busselton and Dunsborough so it's not recommended to go down for a day trip. There are lots of beautiful beaches, forrest walks, cafes and restaurants in this area, as well as lots of accommodation options. This is Jonathan's home ground, so if you want to get a feel of the country life, we recommend heading out this way and swing by the Dardanup Bakery for award winning pies, and Charlotte's favourite jam donuts (p.s., pick me up one on the way back please!).
Pack your golf shoes as we have plenty of public golf places and a beautiful outdoor mini golf in Wanneroo (and finish off with a beer on the coast in Mullaloo). Hit up Jonathan to get the low down on the best public courses (Wembley and Fremantle are usually the go to)
