We're Getting Married!

Jon and Syd have chosen to celebrate their love with a private and intimate wedding, surrounded by a handful of their closest loved ones. Their ceremony will take place at their Airbnb overlooking the breathtaking mountains of Yosemite National Park—a setting as peaceful and awe-inspiring as the love they share. At the start of their day, Jon and Syd will exchange vows privately, savoring a quiet moment together before the celebration unfolds. A “warming of the rings” will serve as their unity ceremony, symbolizing not only the joining of two lives, but the love and support of the people who surround them. Before the rings are exchanged, they will be passed among loved ones, each person adding their own love, hopes, and well wishes to be carried into the marriage. The evening will continue with a dinner reception at Ducey’s on the Lake, followed by first dances beneath the open sky—ending the night under a meteor shower to complete a wedding day filled with love, wonder, and a little bit of magic.

Jon and Syd’s story began long before they realized it—first crossing paths during a Halloween bar crawl in Indianapolis in October 2022. Months later, after matching on Hinge on January 17, 2023, they truly began to connect. Syd was cautious about stepping into something serious, but Jon was unwavering, patiently and persistently showing her how meant-to-be they truly were. With family at the heart of everything they valued, they agreed early on that dating meant being welcomed into each other’s families. Four months later, on Easter 2023, Jon met all of Syd’s family in Osceola, jumping headfirst into the love and chaos without hesitation. That very same day, fate had a sense of humor—on the side of I-465, after Jon’s truck broke down and a tow truck was required, Syd unexpectedly met Jon’s parents. Just two weeks later, Syd said yes to forever beginning, and on April 28, 2023, their love story officially became theirs.

What began as a simple “let’s see how this goes” turned into the adventure of a lifetime. On July 31st, 2023, Syd moved into Jon’s home in Greenfield, IN, marking the start of their journey together. At the time, Syd had been dedicated to her work as an operating room nurse for over four years. Though she loved her career, she couldn’t shake the feeling that life had even more in store. One day, jokingly, Syd suggested taking her parents’ RV on the road to explore travel nursing. Jon, ever her biggest supporter, didn’t hesitate—he carefully mapped out everything they’d need to make it happen. With his encouragement, Syd bravely gave her notice, and Jon worked on finding renters for the house. On February 12th, 2024, hand in hand, Jon and Syd set off on travel assignment #1 in Tucson, AZ. They marveled at stunning sunrises and sunsets, soaking in every moment together, even when Tucson turned out not to be their favorite. Thirteen weeks later, they journeyed to Eugene, OR for assignment #2, stopping along the way at countless national parks and falling deeper in love with the West Coast—and with each other. From rodeos to mountain hikes, ocean swims to waterfall dips, concerts to football games, every adventure strengthened their bond. Not ready to let the east coast pass them by, they headed to Florence, SC for assignment #3, embracing the beauty of every corner of the country. Over the past two years, Jon and Syd have traveled to 30 states—and even the Bahamas—creating memories, sharing laughter, and building a love as expansive as the road before them. Before this next chapter begins, there is still one more adventure ahead- Jon and Syd will be spending 13 weeks in Oklahoma for her next travel nurse assignment before the wedding. The months leading up to our day continue to reflect so much of what has shaped our story: embracing new places, balancing everyday life with big milestones, and finding meaning in the journey that brings us closer to where we are meant to be.
