Best Man
Mozell is Jon's best friend and fraternity brother. He is the keeper of secrets. When something happens in Jon's life, or if Jon has some HOT tea, Mozell is one of the first people who gets that call. They guard each other fiercely. If the text thread ever gets out, they will probably change their names and move to another country, but be advised: they said what they said, and before they take it back, they'll add more to it.
Best Man
JeQuan is Dominique’s best friend and little brother. They met on the mess decks of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in 2013 and have been locked in ever since. In 2016, JeQuan predicted this day would come and ten years later, here we are.
Maid of Honor
Keyana is Jon’s oldest sister and has been there for every chapter of his life. Together, they are the definition of ride or die. No one knows the late night drive-bys or "let's just go by and see" moments they've shared! If Jonathan knows it, Keyana knows it. If Keyana knows it, Jonathan knows it. They understand, encourage, and pray for each other like no one else. She will definitely cry. Actually, they will probably cry together. Multiple times.
Matron of Honor
Ebony is Dominique’s sister and lifelong partner in crime. From childhood schemes to grown up decisions, they’ve been side by side through it all, usually with food involved. There isn’t a single major moment in Dominique’s life that hasn’t included her opinion, her laughter, or her leftovers.
Groomswoman
Alyssa is Jon's youngest sister. Of all his siblings, they are the most alike. They are very shady when they get together, but that means they actually like you. They are also the most competitive when it comes to life accomplishments and who is the favorite child. She will cry too. Bad. Multiple times throughout the night.
Groomswoman
Artavia is Dominique’s niece, and of all his nieces and nephews, they have always shared a special bond. No matter where he is or what he is doing, when she calls, he answers. She is his twin in looks and attitude, and if you see tears during the ceremony, they are probably hers.
Groomsman
Brian is Jon's first and favorite cousin. As a matter of fact, they're more like brothers. When they were younger, their imaginations were unmatched. They are the real life Kenan and Kel and have been getting into all manner of mischief since they were kids. They even stole a car a few times. Brian: grab a screw driver, some chittlins, and a post-it note and meet me at the Slover!
Groomswoman
Latasha is Dominique’s sister. Oddly enough, she and Jon are two of a kind, they both wrap up in their blanket and watch the oddest things on TV after making a stop at Starbucks for a little drink. Dominique and Latasha’s love language is Starbucks gift cards, which they exchange randomly and almost always with a shady comment attached.
Groomswoman
Lauren has been Jon's best friend since their days at Hickory High School. You don't know a good laugh until you get them together in the same room! I don't mean a quiet chuckle either. I mean hollering, running, and slapping each other. He loves Lauren like a sister and they are definitely locked in for life. She is probably going to cry, too, and by the end of the night, there will be a new inside joke!
Officiant
Elder Martin is a close friend and trusted confidant of the couple, and it only feels right that he’s the one joining them in marriage. His prayers have covered them, his laughter has lifted them, and his wisdom has guided them through some of life’s biggest moments. It's only right that he's there to bless their "I do."
Groomsman
Makaiah, one of Dominique’s closest friends, affectionately known as Fave, is one of those rare people who show up with the same love they speak about. Their friendship started on Instagram and turned into family, the kind that calls out of nowhere at the perfect time and shows up across the country just to celebrate a moment. He admires the father, the artist, the man he is, and he’s forever grateful to have him walking through life with him.
Groomswoman
Mia is Dominique’s first cousin and one third of the Trio Chat. Growing up, they spent every summer and vacation together, and that bond never faded. She is his fellow Sagittarius cousin, his daily talk partner, and his mirror in more ways than one. Mia will definitely be crying.
Groomswoman
Millicent is Jon's friend turned sister. They met at Western Branch High School and have been close ever since. They share a love of the kitchen, and if you know them, you know that they can make a meal out of anything, at any time, for anybody. She has encouraged him since they met and is one of the reasons he is "Dr." today. She probably won't cry, but keep your eye on her just in case!
Groomsman
Taquan is Dominique’s best friend of nearly a decade. They clap so loudly for each other that neither ever notices who didn’t. They share a love for peace, comfort, and their robes, most of their FaceTime calls include both of them in a robe and bonnet, just gabbing away. But make no mistake, they are both about their business and constantly pushing each other to level up personally and professionally. Taquan will not cry, but he will flash that gorgeous smile the entire time.
Groomsman
What started as a coworker connection quickly turned into a real brotherhood. Everybody loves them some Tim. He’s lowkey the life of the party and always keeps it real. If you want the honest truth, ask Tim! Jon couldn’t imagine this day without him by his side (even if he probably won’t cry). Jon would be in SHAMBLES if Tim wasn't there!
Mother of the Groom
Beverly is Jon’s mom and Dominique’s partner in crime. If they aren’t texting they’re on FaceTime cooking up a scheme to meet up for lunch or to go shopping somewhere in the middle of a workday. Before Beverly retired the most used phrase in their text thread was “take a day or I’ll meet you in 30 minutes.” Jon often receives random selfies during the middle of his workday of the two of them up to no good but that’s their business.
Mother of the Groom
Francine is Dominique’s mom and Jon’s partner in crime. They share a deep love for cooking though neither of them measures a thing and both guard their recipes like state secrets. Francine always tells Jon, “You won’t have my stuff in the store selling it, bruh!” She probably won’t cry, but one thing is for sure, she is going to be the life of the party.
Mother of the Groom
A true bonus in every sense, Donnetta is the loving stepmom to Jon and bonus mom to them both. Her encouragement knows no bounds. She’s always pushing them to chase what they want out of life, no matter the cost. Known for her wisdom, laughter, and fierce competitiveness, she’s a shark at the spades table, where her game is just as strong as her heart. Dot, I got you one more! <3
Father of the Grooms
James is Jon’s dad and the honorary father for them both. When the engagement news dropped, nobody was more excited, saying “That’s what I’m talking about! That’s what I’ve been waiting for!!” James is the kind of dad who gives advice, cracks a joke right after, and somehow makes you feel better without saying much at all. His pride runs deep, his love runs steady, and if you ask him, this wedding is his big day too.
Grandmother of the Grooms
Laura is Dominique’s grandma, and he is the youngest of her generation. Though she is Dominique’s grandmother, she is truly a grandmother to them both, loving Jonathan as her own. Her prayers cover the family daily, wrapping them in the same love, wisdom, and grace that have guided every generation before them. You'll likely see her on the dance floor.
