Flight
Ryanair flies from Stanstead Airport to Tours Airport and return on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. From Tours Airport to the château, it is just under an hour’s drive along the Loire River and through beautiful French villages (if you avoid the Toll Way, which takes the same time). EasyJet flies from Gatwick Airport to Nantes Airport and return daily. Nantes Airport to the château is a 2 hour drive. EasyJet flies from Luton Airport to Nantes Airport and return on Fridays, Mondays, Sundays and Wednesdays. The Eurostar Train from London to and from France is another option and can be researched on www.eurostar.com. There are a number of options on how to connect to the château via Lille or via Paris Gare du Nord. There are TGVs (hi-speed trains) from Lille to Tours and Saumur. From Paris Gare du Nord, you can transfer to Paris Montparnasse and travel to Tours and Saumur.
Train
There is a TGV (hi-speed train) from inside the Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). The most direct option is to catch the train from CDG to Saumur. This normally has one change of trains in Tours or Saint-Pierre-des-Corps (the TGV station for Tours) or in Angers, but some connections are direct to Saumur. From Saumur Train Station (Gare de Saumur), it is a €30-€35 taxi ride to Château de Jalesnes (more expensive late at night). Another option is to catch a TGV from CDG to Tours (put Saint-Pierre-des-Corps in the train search for this option) or Le Mans and hire a car at the Tours or Le Mans Train Station and drive to the château. You then have independence throughout your stay at the château. Finally, you can hire a car at CDG and drive to the château. The drive from CDG goes around Paris on the Périphérique ring road. Without traffic, it is a 3 to 3.5 hour drive to the château. However, the drive is at the mercy of Paris traffic, so taking 4 hours is not unusual.
Train
Same as previous. Orly Airport is on the château side of Paris (whereas CDG is on the opposite side) and the options are the same as for CDG, but the train connections have an extra link to go from Orly to the Gare de Massy TGV station to connect.
