Flight
The most convenient and affordable airport to fly to is Guarulhos (GRU). Set your Google Flights alert soon so you can find the cheapest flights to São Paulo. Once you get there, you can either rent a car or use the Uber app to request a ride to your hotel/AirB&B. Please only use the Uber app to accept rides while in Brazil!
Travel Note
If you have a US Passport, you don't need a visa to enter Brazil. All other nationalities please check the link below.
Hotel
We suggest that our guests stay at the Hotel Meliá in Campinas. The hotel is in the Cambuí neighborhood, within walking distance to bars, restaurants, markets, and pharmacies. The hotel offers guests a 15% discount on the daily rate, but only for reservations made directly with the hotel. Reservations made via websites such as booking.com or hotels.com, for example, will not have a discount.
Travel Note

Types of apartments (prices change according to the category) Meliá Guest - two single beds (possible to add an extra single bed or cot) Classic - a double bed (possible to add an extra single bed or cot) Premium - one double bed Premium family - one double bed and one single bed Grand Premium - one double bed Extra beds and cribs can be added subject to availability. Please let them know of your request when making a reservation.
Travel Note
If you wish to extend your trip or want more freedom, we recommend renting a car at the airport. Driving in Brazil is extremely similar to the US (the only exception is you can't turn right on a red light!). The roads in São Paulo are well maintained and signaled. We recommend renting a car from Enterprise (see below) or RentalCars.com/Expedia, etc. Your passport and local drivers license should be all you need. And if you don't drive stickshift, don't forget to request an automatic car!
Rental Car
You can rent a car in Brazil through the Enterprise website, which will book you a car through Localiza (the Brazilian equivalent company) Choose pick up location as GRU Airport if you want to get your car at the airport right away or Campinas Cambuí Downtown in case you decide to Uber to Campinas and rent a car later. For those renting a car at the airport, there is a free shuttle to Localiza to get your car. Follow the signs for Car Rental and the shuttle will take you to the rental lot. You'll need your Passport, Drivers License and a Credit Card.
Rental Car
RentalCars.com, Expedia... all can rent a car in GRU Airport or Campinas.
Travel Note
It's entirely possible to move around the city areas only with Ubers (although not to the wedding area, which is in the countryside - please plan to use the transportation provided). Request the same way you would at home. Because of the high gas prices, often drivers can deny the request if the ride is short. Keep trying and you'll get someone to pick you up. ONLY use the Uber app and don't accept rides from strangers even if they say they are an Uber driver, especially at the airport.
