Explore La Jolla Cove by Land

Explore La Jolla Cove by Land

Walk along the rocky shore to spot large colonies of sea lions lounging in their natural habitat and looking after their pups. You can also visit Sunny Jim's Sea Cave which is accessible via a tunnel.

Snorkel at La Jolla Cove

Snorkel at La Jolla Cove

Get wet and explore the enchanting underwater world of La Jolla- no SCUBA certification required! You can easily find two top California snorkeling options nearby. In the La Jolla Cove, look for the captivating marine life, including sea lions, rays, and vibrant garibaldi- the bright orange CA state fish! Alternatively, Fall is a good time to head to La Jolla Shores, near the Marine Room restaurant, for the annual gathering of (friendly) leopard sharks on a shallow sandy bottom. Gear up for your aquatic adventure by renting snorkel equipment at a nearby shop or opting for the guidance of a local expert via a guided snorkel tour. Options for both range from $25-$75 and can be found at local shops: La Jolla Kayak or Hike Bike Kayak.

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve

12600 North Torrey Pines Road, La Jolla, CA 92037

Go for an easy or moderate hike in the natural reserve. We recommend the Torrey Pines Beach Trail Loop.

Scuba Diving

Scuba Diving

Join the groom for an exciting dive day before the wedding in La Jolla, renowned for its captivating kelp forest diving and abundant wildlife. We will have the option of 2 shore dives in the Cove or embarking on a charter boat adventure for 2 tanks. No need to worry about gear – everything can be rented. The cost will range from $140 to $250 per person (plus rentals if needed) which will vary based on our collective decision on the diving location and shore vs. boat. Reach out to the groom if you are interested in getting underwater together and we can make some plans! (SCUBA certification required)

Sea Kayaking and Stand-Up Paddle Boarding

Sea Kayaking and Stand-Up Paddle Boarding

There are ample opportunities for sea kayak or SUP rentals and tours to explore the cliffs and caves of the marine protected area and kelp forests.
