Wild Fireweed Flower Picking!

Fireweed Field: text Bride/Groom if interested

Super comfy clothes. You may get a bit dirty.

We need to pick some wild fireweed flowers for the wedding and tables. Please come ready to help cut and gather fireweed from a field and run through the fields like a flower-child. We would appreciate any help for people willing to help gather these flowers.

Dress casual and comfortable, especially if you are willing to help with preparing for the big day!

This is when and where Ally and Josh will be checking in. Guests may arrive with us or anytime after 3:00pm. Any extra hands would be appreciated to help unload at 3:00PM. We will be expecting table and chair delivery at 4:30pm.

Relaxed Rehearsal Dinner/Setting Up for the Big Day

We will be having a delivered dinner and booze for everyone that can come help. We would appreciate anyone willing to help with lifting boxes, unloading food, and mostly helping to set up decorations (flowers, vases, lights, table runners, candles, banners, tables, chairs, etc.). It will be a relaxed atmosphere of mingling, laughing, catching up, and helping the couple. If you will be part of the ceremony, we will also be running through a quick rehearsal. Anyone is allowed to attend the rehearsal if they wish.

Knik Wedding Ceremony

Knik Glacier & Private Helicopter Ride

Dress warm and have closed-toe shoes (you will be wearing glacier spikes over your shoes)! Wedding colors if you wish to coordinate are fireweed-magenta-pink and aqua-glacier blue.

Please arrive at the address above 30 minutes prior to flight take off time. This is a helicopter visit to Knik Glacier for a quick ceremony. The parents of the bride and groom and the officiator will be in attendance.

Dinner & Celebration

6:00 pm

The dress code is cocktail attire. The grass can be a little soft, so you might want to rethink stilettos!

After Josh and Ally finish their private helicopter ride and hiking through the wilderness, it is time to celebrate with a dinner! We will be dinning outdoors in a covered balcony/tent. Be sure to dress for the weather, as rain or shine we will be out there enjoying a fantastic dinner, roasting smores over a campfire, smoking cigars, and drinking with amazing company. Wedding colors if you wish to coordinate are fireweed-magenta-pink and aqua-glacier blue.

Come drive the scenic pass where Ally spent most of her childhood memories. You can stop and hike in many areas or just drive around to see the beauty of Alaska. Hatcher's Pass is in the Talkeetna Mountains between the towns of Willow and Palmer, Hatcher Pass is a local favorite for recreation or a scenic drive. Hike in alpine tundra dotted with wildflowers and ptarmigan, ski fresh, deep powder, or visit Independence Mine Historical State Park. Panning for gold is available too!

Musk Ox Farm

Tours leave about every 30 minutes Adult admission $11 Child admission $5 Senior admission $9 Come observe and photograph these Ice Age animals at close range, as you learn from our guides and educational exhibits about their fascinating natural history, the domestication project, and how their fine underwool, called qiviut, is the basis of a cottage Native textile industry which provides an economic supplement to subsistence communities throughout Alaska. ​ The Musk Ox Farm is nestled in the pastoral Matanuska Valley just outside of Palmer, Alaska, a scenic fifty-minute drive from downtown Anchorage. Our picturesque Colony farm, where we continue a unique domestication project, begun sixty years ago, is home to a lively herd of over eighty musk oxen, from powerful bulls to frolicking calves. We have a large, pull through, parking area which will accommodate personal automobiles to the largest private and commercial buses.

Bodenburg Butte is a 0.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Palmer, Alaska that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from May until October. The trail is an easily accessible climb near Palmer that provides 360-degree views from atop what's essentially a large rock in the middle of a broad braided floodplain formed by the Knik and Matanuska rivers.
