The First Date

Was it a date?

The first date is different depending on who you ask. If you ask William, the first date was making homemade pasta at Jolie's parent's house. If you ask Jolie, the first date was axe throwing and sushi. Jolie and William went axe throwing together and danced in the rain until midnight, but William was convinced that it was just a friendly hangout. Luckily, Jolie had Gina as a resource to let him know that friends don't typically dance in the rain in a parking lot together. Their first kiss, however, happened at Jolie's parent's house while making homemade pasta together. Whichever consensus we come to, this love story has been inevitable since the beginning and Jolie and William feel so incredibly lucky to have found each other. Their love story will continue with a little (or a lot) of teasing each and every day.

The Proposal

From Jolie's Perspective

I told William that he would have one chance in his life to surprise me and that it was our proposal. We are very communicative with each other, so we were on the same page about how we wanted the engagement to go. He knew I didn't want something extremely public, and we both wanted it to be a surprise. Will is terrible at keeping secrets, so there were a lot of days where he would hand me some noise-cancelling headphones and go take a phone call outside. I love our proposal story because it's so inherently us. Will was able to keep 99% of the proposal a surprise, but an accidentally shown text message meant that I knew what day it was happening. It ended up working out for the best because I knew what I was getting ready for. We went to Main Beach in Laguna Beach and were walking in the sand. I noticed the cutest little set-up with a table, some cushions, champagne and glasses, and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. In my head, all I can think is "It's happening! I can't believe it's really happening!" I look at Will as we get closer and he pulls me right past it to show me a dog that he thought was really cute. We get about a hundred feet away before I ask him where we're going, and he goes "Oh! I actually think we passed it." He takes me back to the little set-up where he gets down on one knee and that's where we got to start the rest of our lives together.
