Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Jolene Knox and Benjamin Lyon
With over 150 restaurants, Bloomington's culinary scene is a foodie's dream. Honestly you can't go wrong with any of the restaurants or coffee spots. Here are a few of our small business favorites within walking distance of the hotels! This is a college town, so there are several bars around the square. We added our favorite comedy club and some other entertainment options.

Hopscotch Coffee

212 North Madison Street, Bloomington, IN 47404

This is our favorite local coffee shop, their main location is on the south side of Bloomington but this grab and go is just a few blocks from the hotels! They have several house-made syrups, Jolene's favorite is the vanilla latte.

Bedrak Cafe

409 South Walnut Street, Bloomington, IN 47401

This is Ben's favorite brunch spot, the chorizo biscuits and gravy are his go to order. They have a mimosa flight with house-made juices and a full espresso bar.

Gables Bagels

421 East 3rd Street, Bloomington, IN 47401

These are authentic east coast bagels, and a local favorite. They even have 3 gluten free options, and as a bagel snob I can attest that they are amazing. Beware of the lines, this place is always busy, but it's worth the wait. It should also be noted that there are only 5 tables here, and they are hard to come by.

Nick's English Hut

423 East Kirkwood Avenue, Bloomington, IN 47408

Nick's has been a Bloomington and Indiana University hot spot since 1927. This is where we take all of our friends and family who visit Bloomington. Their Bizz fries are to die for. If you are feeling competitive and aren't afraid of a hangover, you have to try the local favorite drinking game sink the bizz. Nick's is located right outside of IU's sample gates, a casual 10 minute walk from the hotels.

Metal Works Brewing Company

108 East 6th Street, Bloomington, IN 47408

One of our favorite local spots, you'll see some of their beers at our wedding reception. They have an outdoor patio and supply board games! As someone who is gluten free, I highly recommended their flatbreads pizzas! They also carry local ciders, along with multiple wine options.

The Comedy Attic

123 South Walnut Street, Bloomington, IN 47408

This is a frequent date night stop for us! The comedy attic is just off the square downtown, so just a few minutes walk from the hotels we recommended.

The Orbit Room

107 North College Avenue, Bloomington, IN 47404

This is just a few streets over from the hotels and has a lot to offer. Generally there is a live band playing and they are an all ages business. They have several pin ball machines are known for hot dogs.
