The Wedding Website of JoJo Drake and Yoni Kalin
Question

What if I want to send a gift? Where do I send it?

Answer

First of all, we are over the moon to officially be the Kalins! Thank you for brightening our lives with so much J💛Y. Our address is 475 Brickell Ave, #4514 Miami, Florida 33131. Of course, your presence in our lives is the best present of all.

Question

What should I do if I still have questions?

Answer

Peruse the website! JoJo has poured hours into building this site. It’s been a labor of love because she wants you to have the best experience on her and Yoni’s big day. Read through the FAQs or revisit the RSVP page and thoroughly read the “Event Location and Details” and email yourself your itinerary. If you still can’t answer your question, then contact our wedding planner, Sam Jaeger, via email at contact@marriageandmimosas.com or via text/call at 1(443) 553-1091. We are preparing our hearts, minds, and souls for our big day, so we ask that you respect the time and space we need during the final countdown!

Question

Can I find all the event details in 1 place?

Answer

YES! The RSVP page is the most robust place to get all your event details like location, time, dress code, etc.! The schedule page provides an overview of the 4 main events but doesn’t include all of the events you may be invited to, so the RSVP page should be your go to. After you toggle to the RSVP page, type in your name, press enter and scroll through all of the events. If you’re on your phone, be sure to press the drop down arrow that reads “view location and details” so you can get ALL of the information. At the end, our website will prompt you to email yourself a copy of the event details; it’s super handy!!

Question

What are the COVID-19 requirements?

Answer

Masks and proof of vaccination will be required during the Ceremony at Sixth and I Synagogue. If you are feeling sick then we implore you to take necessary precautions and use common sense for the safety of our friends and loved ones. While we’d hate to not celebrate with any of you, it’s not worth the risk. If you recognize covid symptoms, we kindly ask that you take a covid PCR test and refrain from attending if it’s positive. You can watch our ceremony streamed live or watch it at a time convenient for you: tinyurl.com/YoJoWedding. You can copy and paste the link directly into your browser. The ceremony starts at 5:30 PM EST on Sunday, September 4th.

Question

What’s the wedding ceremony and reception dress code?

Answer

COLORFUL COCKTAIL ATTIRE For men, sport a suit jazzed up with a splash of color or fun a twist like funky shoes, a colorful bow tie/tie, or a pocket square that pops! For women, think bright colors, bold prints, &/or playful accessories. Opt for a fancy cocktail dress or tea-length, knee-length, or midi/maxi dress. Dressy jumpsuits are great too. Have fun with it! If the idea of leaning into color excites you then be our guest, go for it, & have fun! If neutrals are more your thing, that is perfectly okay too. We are excited to celebrate with you no matter what you wear. We created this mood board to help: tinyurl.com/ColorfulCocktail

Question

How conservatively should I be dressed for the ceremony at the synagogue?

Answer

The synagogue where we are getting married is non-denominational, non-traditional. Women do not need to have their shoulders and arms covered unless they would prefer to do so. It's also the end of summer, so we know it's going to be warm.

Question

Will kippot (yarmulkes) be provided?

Answer

Yes! We have custom-created these for our wedding day and they will be provided at both Shabbat dinner and at the synagogue for the ceremony. It’s highly encouraged that the men wear these as a sign of reverence and as a part of our tradition and rituals as a Jewish couple.

Question

What’s the dress code for the welcome party?

Answer

SEMI-FORMAL ATTIRE Dress for a rooftop cocktail hour and for taking pictures during golden hour overlooking the Potomac River. Semi-formal attire is slightly less formal than cocktail attire. Outfit options include button-down shirts, dress pants, dress shoes, jumpsuits, tea dresses, and knee-length dresses.

Question

Are the events indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our welcome party is indoors with a rooftop terrace. Our wedding ceremony is inside the sanctuary of the 6th & I synagogue. Our reception spans both the indoor and outdoor space of the Culture House with free movement throughout both the moment you arrive. The outdoor portion will have some covering and hand-held fans will be provided.

Question

Will transportation be provided on the Wedding Day?

Answer

Transportation will be provided from all hotels to Sixth and I. Yellow school buses will arrive at 4:15pm and depart at 4:45pm to take guests to the ceremony and reception. After the reception, the buses will run on a loop taking guests back to the hotels starting at 9:30pm. For questions about the shuttle service please contact our wedding planner, Sam Jaeger, at contact@marriageandmimosas.com or +1(443) 553-1091.

Question

Will transportation be provided for the Welcome Party?

Answer

Guests staying at any of the hotels at the wharf are within walking distance to La Vie, the location of the Welcome Party. Transportation will be provided for the guests at the Royal Sonesta Hotel only. Transportation will arrive to the hotel for those guests at 8:15 pm.

Question

Where can I learn more about a Jewish wedding in advance of the big day?

Answer

We are so glad you asked! JoJo spent a significant amount of time writing a detailed explanation of their Pre-Wedding Ceremony and Chuppah Ceremony. You can learn all about the traditions, rituals, and customs we are embracing on our big day by visiting tinyurl.com/YoJoCeremony. You can copy and paste the link directly into your browser.

Question

What’s the dress code for the ALL WHITE Shabbat Dinner on Friday?

Answer

ALL WHITE GARDEN PARTY ATTIRE Think linens, lace, cottons, skirts, chinos, polos, & short or long sleeve button up shirts. WHY WHITE? White signifies Shabbat is a special time, set apart from the week. The custom of wearing white to greet Shabbat dates back to at least the 1500s if not earlier.

Question

Is there an optional tour before the All WHITE Shabbat Dinner Friday night?

Answer

Yes, there is! It is at 5:30 PM EST before the beginning of Shabbat. If you were invited to this event, you can find details about the optional tour by going to the RSVP page, typing in your name, and scrolling through to the Shabbat event. If you're navigating there from your phone be sure to click the "Event Location and Details" drop-down!

Question

Can you provide more details about where you’re registered?

Answer

You can access our registry if you toggle to the “registry” page of the site. Many of you are traveling across the globe to celebrate with us in DC, so your presence means the world to us and is all we truly ask for. While we really wanted to accept only physical gifts, we currently live in a furnished apartment in Miami, which we rented with a fully stocked kitchen, so we can't as easily take in much at the moment. Instead, we set up funds, which will help us purchase the items we will need when our lease ends in January and we will be moving into a more long-term living situation. In the description of each fund on the registry page, we shared details about the stores where we plan to shop and the kinds of items we plan to purchase. Lastly, we did add a few physical gifts to the bottom to provide a more traditional option. Please note that some of these gifts are designated as "group gifting," meaning you can contribute any amount you choose towards that particular gift. If you would like to send us a gift directly, email us at jojocdrake@gmail.com for our address!

Question

Will the wedding be streamed!

Answer

You can watch our ceremony streamed live or watch it at a time convenient for you: tinyurl.com/YoJoWedding. You can copy and paste the link directly into your browser. The ceremony begins at 5:30 PM EST on Sunday, September 4th.

Question

What's the best way to get to the All WHITE Shabbat Dinner from the hotels at the Wharf?

Answer

1) Parking - Two parking garages close to the Larz Anderson House. One at the Royal Sonesta Hotel on P Street NW which is 0.2 miles away (3-minute walk if you walk north on 21st street) and an outside Colonial Lot at Dupont Circle 1919 Massachusetts Ave NW, which is 0.2 miles away (4-minute walk). The cost is about $21. There is some street parking on side streets but I don't think there is any parking on Mass. Ave itself. People may want to drink and not hassle with cars and parking so a metro, Taxi, or Uber may be better. 2) Taxis, if available, can be 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of Ubers. We are seeing more and more lately on the street. 3) Uber - About $20 each way. $40 round trip and people can coordinate and take Ubers together. 4) Metro. It's 1/2 a mile walk (10-15 minutes) from the Wharf to L'Enfant Plaza Metro (Green Line). Two stops to Gallery Place/Chinatown in the direction of Greenbelt. Transfer to Red Line. 3 stops to DuPont Circle in the direction of Shady Grove. Three to five-minute walk from DuPont Circle Metro Stop (Q Street) to the Anderson House.
