We met during our second semester of freshman year at Indian Hill High School in Modern European History with Mrs. Mascaritolo. Fate (or seating arrangements) had us sitting next to each other, and on April 9, 2019, Stephen received a friend request on Snapchat… because I made the first move. Had we not been forced to sit next to each other, and had I not looked left to start a conversation, who knows where we'd be now? Between classes about Europe and world wars, we started chatting, sharing laughs, and slowly realized we liked each other. We dated through high school and carried that love into college. Thank You Mrs. Mascaritolo! Stephen asked Heleina to be his girlfriend on May 8, 2019. The rest is history.

Stephen proposed on September 27, 2025, at Hocking Hills State Park. We hiked Old Man's Cave, and Stephen got down on one knee at the end of it. It was a moment as breathtaking as the scenery around us. It was the easiest yes, and we are so excited to hike into happily ever after.
