Through the dating app, Bumble, in the summer of 2020. Jacob is a truck driver and had a delivery in WV around the time we connected. We video-chatted on a Friday night and made plans to meet in-person the next day. Our first date included lunch at Bob Evans, skating at the ice rink, and seeing a movie. Ever since, we’ve maintained our relationship by texting, calling, and/or video chatting each other nearly every day and we continue to make plans whenever Jacob comes back through the area and has the time to spend. He proposed in October 2020 (around his birthday!)
We are registered on Amazon.com, Target, and Zola.com. We also have a cash fund set up. See registry tag for links to our lists. Tips: If an item is out of stock on one registry, that item or something similar may be listed on one of the others. If considering gift cards, any amount is appreciated! Options just had to be chosen with a specific price. ***Some mail services don’t always leave packages at Katie’s apartment. So please send big gifts/packages to: Katie Johns and Jacob Holland 1372 Riverdale Estates Winfield, WV 25213 (This is her parents’ address; she knows they’ll be safer when delivered here)
Masks will not be required at the ceremony or reception as per guidelines and mandates enacted in June 2021. They may be worn only if preferred. Please keep in mind that other businesses in the area may still operate with mask mandates or other precautions at their discretion. Any changes or updates will be communicated as soon as possible. If distance or health precautions prevent you from joining us in person, we plan on streaming the ceremony on the church Facebook page, @WinfieldBaptistWV.
Yes! The ceremony and reception will be very family-friendly. (There will be some fun things for the kids at the reception or they can play on the playground next door if the weather is nice.) To follow community center rules and maintain the family-friendly atmosphere, alcohol is NOT PERMITTED on premises (nor at the church). Your cooperation is very much appreciated.
The ceremony will be open attendance and the reception is by RSVP. Invitations will be sent very soon and will have RSVP cards to send back by mail. Please respond before March 30th if you can or talk to Katie or Jacob.
We recommend something between casual and semi-formal, or just “Sunday best”. If you want to do a festive look, the theme is just general, bright spring/summer colors.
That’s mainly Jacob’s department…. we plan on spending a week in Virginia, visiting Luray Caverns, the Jamestown settlement, Nauticus, maybe Virginia Beach and/or the area where he grew up. We’re renting an AirBnB for a few nights early in our trip.
The couple will live together in Katie’s Nitro apartment as they financially prepare to either buy a house, hopefully in the Kanawha or Putnam County areas. They want to grow their family when they have a house to grow into. Jacob will continue truck-driving and growing his business. Katie will continue in her office job and wants to ride with Jacob on shorter trips. As of August 2021, Katie and Jacob have also started an official local wholesale retail business (K& J Retail) to help build their finances as well.
