Borromean Islands
Named after the noble Borromeo family, who have owned them since the 16th century, the islands—principally Isola Bella (beautiful museum and gardens), Isola Madre, and Isola dei Pescatori—offer a mix of cultural heritage and natural beauty. The islands are easily accessible by ferry.
Piccolo Lago Restaurant
Foodies - this is a must do! This beautiful waterfront restaurant has 2 Michelin Stars. It is about a 20-minute drive to the small, beautiful lake of Mergozzo.
Funivie del Lago Maggiore
The Funivia is a gondola lift across the lake in Laveno, nearby where Hailee's family lives. You can easily take the ferry to other side of the lake, purchase a ticket and see the views!
Milano
Take the train to Milan to explore for the day! If you go to Milan, you MUST get a Liuni Panzerotti!
Locarno or Ascona
Take a day trip to Locarno or Ascona (Switzerland) – just across the northern border, easily reached by train or boat, with a more alpine feel and plenty of Swiss chocolate.

Take a boat tour of: Isola dei Pescatori – a quaint fishing village with waterfront trattorias. Isola Bella – a lavish Baroque palace with tiered Italian gardens. Isola Madre – exotic gardens with peacocks roaming freely.

Stroll around downtown Stresa! Via Mazzini and Corso Umberto I are two of the main streets where you’ll find many boutique shops and gift stores. These are easy to explore on foot while you’re walking the lakefront or heading between cafés and sights.
