Despite John and Meghan both growing up in Fredericksburg, having several mutual friends, & living less than a mile away from each other, they had never met or even heard of one another before. John & Meghan found each other the good old-fashioned way, by swiping right on Tinder. John slid into Meghan's messages with a pick-up line about soup (which clearly worked) & after a few days of flirtatious banter, numbers were exchanged. The two texted for about a month while online stalking endured & Meghan ensured that John wasn’t a serial killer or catfish, and she finally agreed to go on their first date. John took Meg to the hottest Mexican spot in the ‘Burg, El Patron, they had tacos, margs, and talked the night away. The two have been inseparable since. John asked Meghan to make things official on New Years Eve after watching the ball drop on TV at his house. In August 2021, John, Meghan, and Penelope (their 3-year-old beagle) moved into a cute house near downtown Fredericksburg and the rest is history.
Meghan came home from work in a bad mood one Wednesday evening in the summer. She had a bad day at work and was sad about John leaving in a few days for his two-week work trip to Montana. In hopes of making Meg feel better, John asked if she wanted to go out to dinner, to which she declined. He then asked if he could cook her dinner, to which she declined. He then asked her if she wanted to go get ice cream (one of Meg's favorite things and a desperate last play from John) to which she also declined. He then told her that he had to show her something in the bedroom, she got up from the couch in her pj’s and walked into their bedroom and saw John on one knee with a beautiful ring and the sweetest words. Of course, she said yes and John’s plan to turn Meg’s mood around sure did work. If you know us, you know we're very low key, and honestly can’t think of a more “us” way to get engaged, than at our home with our dog. It was perfect. We hope you can make it and can't wait to celebrate with you!
