Welcome!

We are so glad to have you as a part of our wedding day and our marriage! We have been so incredibly blessed by God’s love for us, our love for one another, and the love of so many dear friends and family. We are delighted to spend time with you as we enter into Holy Matrimony! Take a look around our website for the deets. More will be added as the day gets closer!

Hannah’s Story of How We Met

We knew of each other through mutual Grove City College pals, but it wasn’t until May 3, 2018 that we bumped into each other at church on a weekend that my parents were visiting from Minnesota. “He seems nice and cute—you should get to know him!” exclaimed Mother. After first responding with “Eh, he probably likes sports too much,” I later decided to “slide into his DMs”. (This is a colloquialism used by millennials to describe the act of privately messaging someone on social media in a smooth and bold way.) It didnt take more than a walk in Frick Park for me to realize that that John was a deep-thinking, kindhearted soul that I wanted to get to know better. Behind the scenes, in the months leading up to our meeting, some very special people had it in mind and put some bugs in our ears that perhaps we would be a good match. Shout out to Charlie and Marilyn!

John's Story of How We Met

When I think back to when Hannah and I first met, I remember being pretty committed to embracing my introverted side. Shortly after running into her at church, Hannah started to invite me to social outings. She was simply too friendly, joyful and good-looking for my introverted side to hold out. I remember going to an art crawl in Lawrenceville with a group from church that Hannah organized. She must have run into no less than 10 people she knew, beyond the group of friends she had gathered for the outing, as we walked around. I remember thinking to myself, “This girl is way more social and fun than I am.” I quickly came to realize how thankful I was that Hannah enjoyed spending time with me and for the joy we shared. And each day we spent together, which typically involved simple things such as walks or even doing online class work at a library or coffee shop, I grew more and more confident that I would much rather spend time with her than do anything else.

Our Engagement: The Long Version

12/22/18

John was very sneaky. I knew a ring was coming eventually, but I thought, "Surely he will talk to my parents over Christmas break and it will happen in the new year." At first, John wasn't exactly sure when the ring was coming in. He ordered my beautiful and very "me" ring from an awesome vendor (https://www.doamore.com/) that uses some of its proceeds to build wells in communities around the world that need access to clean water (and when the wells are built, community members are taught how to maintain the wells). Eventually I will be able to enter in the serial number associated with my ring to see exactly where in the world a well was built! You can see that I am still very excited about this since I am taking the time to type this all out... ANYWAY, the ring came on Friday the 21st and John proposed the very next day. It was burning a hole in his pocket, as they say. We had a very uneventful and relaxing weekend with a trip to the Carnegie Museum of Art during the day and cooking dinner and doing my never-ending pile of dishes in the evening. At some point, we turned on my favorite jazz band, The Bad Plus, he queued up "Pound for Pound", I dramatically yet jokingly twirled out at the musical climax, looked over my shoulder, and found my sweet dear on one knee! We laughed, we cried, it was the best. Of course, our first dance will be to "Pound for Pound" and we hope you all love it and bawl your eyes out with us.
