Our Story

John’s Version

I met Sissy when I was attending the University of San diego. At the time, I was living in an apartment located across the street from campus. After a workout, I went to take a dip in the hot tub with my roommate, Bryce. This was routine for us. Gym, hot tub, sing, play beer pong. In the hot tub, we met an interesting fellow, Beau. He was having a good time (sloshed). This was not an uncommon experience since most of the residents were college students. Beau was social and asked me where I lived. I replied, Northern California. He said, “where in Northern Ca”? I said San Jose. He said, “where in San Jose?” I said, 3889 Forester ct”. At this point, Sissy appeared with her friend to check in on her brother, Beau. I remember telling Bryce that she was beautiful (I actually used the adjective…hot). I even typed in my phone “sissy is hot” so that I wouldn’t forget her name if I saw her again. From that moment on, I would always say hello to her whenever I passed by. Most of our conversations were short and sweet. I would see her a couple days a week walking to class and when I went to the gym. It took me about three weeks to get the courage to ask her for her number. I asked if she had ever heard of the a cappella group, Pentatonix. She said no, so I asked her for her number so I could send her the video. (Brilliant!) I invited her to come watch our a cappella performance at school. Our first date was at the Coral Tree House. (Solid recommendation from my Aunt Cathy). They served us various teas and mini sandwiches. The first movie we watched was Mulan. We did not finish the movie. Then I invited Sissy to Disneyland and asked her to be my girlfriend in the Toy Story parking lot. Luckily, said yes, and the rest is history :)

Our Story

Sissy's Version

It all started one weekend at our shared apartment complex across the street from USD. It was a typical Saturday for me, consisting of a 2 hour round trip drive to pick up Beau & let him crash on the couch in my studio. For those that know our sibling dynamic, this story will sound familiar. On this particular Saturday, the group of us decided to go to the pool for a night swim. Being the social butterfly he is, Beau immediately made some friends in the hot tub, & being the quiet introvert I am, I decided to jump straight into the pool. Which on a typical San Diego evening, was cold for CA purposes. When it was time to check on Beau, I made my way over to the hot tub to warm up but also rescue my brother's new friend from being interrogated about his home address. To clarify, Beau was badgering this guy into basically giving up the address of the home he grew up in a typical "getting to know you" conversation. Thankfully, I have become quite the expert in handling my brother in these tricky situations (at least I like to think so) & we eventually got to neutral ground. After some time, we said our goodbyes & left. Cut to a couple weeks later, & I'm walking back from class with Vincent, when we stop at the campus market to grab some food. Behind us, a guy cuts in to catch up with Vincent since they once almost shared an English class together (that's a story for another time). He looks familiar & reminds me that we met in a hot tub with my brother awhile back. After we re-introduce ourselves & chat for a little, we eventually go our separate ways. Now this part of the story may confuse some of you. At one point in my life I did find myself in the gym on a regular basis. I know, pretty shocking, but if you know John, kind of an essential key to our story. So we keep finding ourselves running into each other at the gym or pool until eventually John asked for my Facebook (very millennial of us) & officially asked to be exclusive at Disneyland (very traditional of us).

For all the days along the way
