We met the summer before college at Fish Camp, Texas A&M's Freshman Orientation. Out of thousands of students, we somehow ended up in the same camp group. We didn't know it at the time, but that was the beginning of something special. Once the semester started, we kept randomly running into each other, usually at campus dining halls. Eventually, our friend groups blended, and we found ourselves spending more and more time together. Somewhere between late-night study sessions at Evan's library, game nights with friends, and inside jokes, we became best friends. By junior year, we realized what all of our friends already seemed to know, our friendship had grown into something more. On our very first date, we painted by a peaceful lake in a park, and we grabbed pizza afterwards. The next day, on September 28, 2020, we made it official. Both of us graduated from Texas A&M in 2022: Paty with a degree in biology and John with a degree in international affairs. We stayed in College Station a little longer, John completed a master's degree (graduated in 2024), and Paty continued onto veterinary school and she is set to graduate in 2026. Over the years, we've built a life of shared goals, little adventures, and friendship. On March 8, 2025, after a lunch date at a French café and walking around Rice University's campus, we got engaged under a beautiful arch. It was simple, thoughtful, and felt completely like us. This upcoming May, not only are we getting married in the same church where Paty's parents said "I do", but also on the same weekend that John's parents said "I do". It already feels like the most meaningful day, and we can't wait to celebrate it with the people we love the most. Thank you for being part of our story. We can’t wait for what comes next!
