We had been introduced many times in the past at parties, weddings, and social gatherings with our common friends. However, we finally "saw each other" on June 16, 2013. Our good friends Kim, Jason, and their daughter Mia hosted a Father's Day BBQ for all of our friends and in the process unknowingly helped to bring us together. That night we could not take our eyes off of each other. The feeling was electric. Since then we have experienced much as a couple. We've traveled together, laughed and cried together, moved for each other, and now we have purchased 20 acres off-grid to start a new home together. These are exciting times and we are most excited about the fact that we are moving forward together as husband and wife.
In 2016 we decided to go off-grid and purchased 20 acres in Prineville Oregon in the hopes to get back to some of the basics of life. In 2017, we officially moved to our property and have been working on developing it. Due to the rugged and raw terrain found throughout Central Oregon, and the fact that you can't put a shovel in the ground more than an inch without striking rock, we decided to call our place "Rocky Ridge". Through John's ingenuity, skill and determination, we have managed to build a home for ourselves. We currently live in our temporary housing, a 30 foot diameter yurt, while we make plans to build our new house and further develop the surrounding grounds. There is much that goes into this process and it feels good to be so intimately involved, knowing that we are truly lucky to be where we are. Our future plans include expanding the property and creating a place that is unique, peaceful, beautiful, and meaningful. We hope to share more updates as we progress with our future plans for Rocky Ridge.
