If you're flying in, the closest airport is Charleston International Airport (CHS), located about 25 minutes from Middleton Place. For guests arriving by train, the Amtrak Station in North Charleston is the nearest rail stop, about 20–25 minutes from the venue by car. Whether you're coming by plane or train, getting to the celebration is easy and convenient!
The venue is located at 4300 Ashley River Road, about 25–30 minutes (16 miles) from downtown Charleston. The best way to get there is by car, and there is plenty of free parking available on-site for guests. The drive along Ashley River Road (SC‑61) is especially scenic—lined with big oaks and historic plantations, it’s a beautiful way to arrive at the venue. If you prefer not to drive, taxis and ride-share services like Uber and Lyft are readily available in Charleston and typically take about 25 minutes to reach Middleton Place. These services will drop you off right at the entrance, making for a stress-free arrival. For friends and family staying at The Inn at Middleton Place, there is a walkable path that connects the inn to the venue. However, the venue has asked that guests do not walk, especially after dark. The path is not lit at night and includes uneven terrain, tree roots, and dips that could lead to slips or falls—especially after a few glasses of champagne! There will be no shuttle service provided, please arrange for a ride back to the Inn after the reception. No matter how you choose to get there, we recommend planning ahead for Friday rush hour traffic and allowing a little extra travel time so you can arrive relaxed and ready to celebrate before the 5:30 PM ceremony!
If our room block fills up, don’t worry—there are several great accommodations nearby. Options range from charming inns and B&Bs to well-known hotels in West Ashley and downtown Charleston, all within a 15–30 minute drive of the venue. We recommend booking early, as Charleston is a popular destination year-round. Need help choosing a place? Feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help!
All are invited! We’d love for everyone to join us the night before the wedding for a casual and fun gathering at Lewis Barbecue—complete with dinner, dessert, and lots of good vibes! We’re planning a fun-themed evening to kick off the weekend, so stay tuned for more details on attire. Come hungry and ready to celebrate!
The ceremony will be outdoors in the Octagonal Garden at Middleton Place, surrounded by lush greenery, blooming flowers, and maybe a peacock or two if we’re lucky. It’s a beautiful setting—but with plenty of grass and gravel underfoot, this might not be the moment for your favorite stilettos. We suggest block heels, wedges, or fancy flats for maximum comfort (and minimal sinking).
Yes! We’re thrilled to share that dinner will be served following cocktail hour, and we can’t wait for you to enjoy it. We’ll be including a spot on the formal invitation to indicate any dietary restrictions, so keep an eye out when that arrives. If you have any major concerns in the meantime, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to make sure everyone is taken care of!
Weather in Charleston in March tends to reach the mid to upper 60s during the day and can drop into the 50s during the evening. We recommend wearing warmer weather options but layering up! We will be adding a mood board for guests so check back later!
The ceremony begins at 5:30. We request that you be seated by 5:10pm at the latest because the short ceremony will begin on time.
If you’ve been given a plus one, their name will be listed on your formal invitation. If you’re unsure or have any questions, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to clarify!
Yes! Middleton place is accessible to all and also provides a golf cart for transportation to and from the parking lot, ceremony location, and reception pavilion.
