Our Story

We both swiped right!

Like many modern love stories, ours started with a swipe. Kristy swiped right on John on Hinge, unknowingly setting the course for everything that would follow. Our first interaction was a bit of a negotiation. John, comfortably rooted in Hoboken, suggested Kristy cross the river for the first date. Kristy—true to her New Yorker spirit and self-respect—very quickly declined. Realizing he might be dealing with someone who knew exactly what she wanted (and wanting to make a good impression), John made the trip into the city. Our first date was refreshingly untraditional. Instead of dim lighting and late-night cocktails, we met on a Sunday at noon for breakfast in the West Village. Afterward, we wandered through Madison Square Park, talking about everything and nothing. John thought things were going perfectly—right up until he leaned in for a kiss and Kristy replied, matter-of-factly, “I don’t do that on the first date.” She left not long after, blaming seasonal allergies and forgotten medicine. John walked away convinced the date was a complete flop… until Kristy texted him later that night asking to go out again. It took a few dates for Kristy to warm up, while John was all-in from the beginning. We learned each other’s rhythms: Kristy didn’t hold hands on the third date because “it was too soon,” and John learned that when Kristy says she has allergies, she means it. Fast forward 3 years, and we’ve built a full, joyful life together—with two fluffy co-stars, Peach and Tox. We moved in together after nine months, trusting what felt right and never looking back. Then came Amsterdam. On a sunny July 4th, overlooking the canals, John got down on one knee. Kristy was surprised—but not too surprised. We celebrated on a boat through the canals with friends, marking the beginning of this next chapter. These days, whether we’re binge-watching Handmaid’s Tale on the couch, negotiating whose turn it is to take out the trash, or planning our next trip to Italy, life together feels exactly right. We cannot wait to celebrate the next part of our story—with all of you.
