Which Airport Should I Fly Into?

There are two options to get to Steamboat, Denver International Airport (DEN) or Yampa Valley Regional Airport/Hayden (HDN). Flying into Denver International Airport (DEN) is the most convenient and economically friendly option. From Denver, there is a 3-4 hour scenic drive to Steamboat. The local airport is Yampa Valley Regional Airport, also known as Hayden (HDN). You typically cannot fly direct into HDN and will connect through Denver to get to Yampa Valley Regional Airport/Hayden. From Hayden, there is a 30 minute drive to Steamboat.

Denver International Airport

Denver International Airport (DEN) has many direct flight options through major and discount airlines. If you are planning on flying in to Denver, we recommend arriving on Thursday or Friday morning and an afternoon departure flight to allow for driving during daylight to take in the beautiful scenery. Please be aware that there can be unpredictable traffic when traveling to and from Denver on I-70. It is best to leave ample time in your travel plans and drive during daylight hours, keeping an eye out for wildlife near the roads.

Yampa Valley Airport

Yampa Valley Regional Airport/Hayden (HDN) is the closest airport to Steamboat via a connection through Denver. Both Southwest and United fly in daily. When you arrive in HDN, there are car rentals and shuttles available to reserve for the 30 minute drive to Steamboat.

How Do I Get From The Airport To Steamboat?

From both airports, you can rent a car or book a shuttle. Getting to Steamboat from Denver Airport: - If you are flying to Denver, we recommend renting a car as the more economical and flexible option. - There are also shuttle options as well. Getting to Steamboat from Yampa Valley Regional Airport/Hayden: - Since Yampy Valley Airport/Hayden is closer to Steamboat, shuttle service will be cheaper than from Denver. - There are also rental car options as well, which gives you a more flexible option.

Where should I Stay In Steamboat?

We recommend staying in a hotel or rental near the base of Mount Werner around the Steamboat gondola square for easy walkability for our wedding weekend. Since we are not providing transportation to/from our wedding venue, we believe it is best to be near the gondola square so you are walkable to your lodging following the reception since Ubers/Lyfts are scarce around Steamboat.
